Yoga is not always about being the most bendy or flexible. It’s not a test of whether you can balance on your head or effortlessly contort into unique shapes or postures. Yoga is meeting your body where it is today. And sometimes that looks like sitting quietly with your thoughts. Sometimes that’s rooting into the earth and feeling the ground beneath you. Sometimes that’s learning to catch your breath; following your inhales and exhales. While these actions may not be the most flashy, they are arguably some of the harder parts of a yoga practice. Learning to tame the chaos of your wandering mind; becoming comfortable with solitude and silence; finding gratitude for where we are at in this very moment in time. These are the things we seek to achieve in yoga. These are the things we seek to achieve in life.

How many times do you hear that phrase?
How many times do you repeat that phrase?
Thank God it’s Friday.
Thank God 5 out of 7 days of my life are done and over.
Thank God I get to spend these next two days going out and numbing myself into oblivion so I don’t have to think about the next 5 / 7 days of my week.
Thank God it’s Friday.
Don’t you see what’s wrong with this?
We work jobs we hate.
We sacrifice our health to make money.
Then we spend that money to recuperate our health with “self-care” because we’re so unhappy.
We become so anxious about the future and the upcoming work week that it becomes impossible to enjoy the present moment. Hence the Sunday Scaries.
But why? Why do we do this to ourselves? Because society tells us to. Because it’s what we’ve been taught. It’s engrained in us. Because we think it’s the right way. Because we’re scared to stray from the norm. And because we don’t know any better.
Now ask yourself, how fulfilling of a life do you live when you constantly thank God it’s Friday?

Need help balancing your handstand? Never fear! This is a job for your inner thighs! ♀️⚡️

⚡️Stand with your back to the wall. Head, back, butt and heels should all be in contact with the wall. Place a block between your inner thighs and give it a good squeeze. Reach your arms overhead with your palms facing in and your thumbs touching the wall. Take a deep inhale and as you exhale draw your abdominals in as you press your back ribs into the wall. Try to eliminate the space between your back and the wall. .

⚡️Stand facing the wall with one foot on the wall. Square your hips. Make sure the supporting leg foot is pointing straight and not out to the side. With the block between your hands reach your arms overhead. Pull your front ribs down. Feel how squeezing your inner thighs As if the block was still between them helps you to square your hips here. Do not bend the standing leg. Switch sides.

⚡️Hop up with the block between your thighs. Straighten your legs, bring your tailbone away from the wall and engage your glutes. Keep one foot on the wall as you scissor the other leg off of the wall continuing to squeeze the block.

⚡️Same as above except now using the squeeze of your inner thighs bring the leg that is on the wall off. This is a tiny movement. .

⚡️Now try it with or without a wall behind you. Jump up and then lower one leg slowly as you squeeze as if you have a block between your inner thighs. You can bend the leg that is in the air a bit of your hamstrings are tight. That will help with the balance. Remember to keep the movement subtle and JUST squeeze your inner thighs strongly together and push through your fingertips to find balance. .

#postpartumjourney 4 days ago this pose just wasn't happening. I tried for another 3 days. Still my hips were unable to lift off from the floor. I was on the verge to give up the challenge and my sister @bookishdiva knows it; also coz considering my SI joint and pelvis are already in so much pain all the time. Yet, this morning when I woke up, I had this sudden urge to try this pose again. I was like 'okay', I tried again, and Omg, goodness God THIS happened!!!! My hips were ABLE to lift off from the floor for tiny seconds, then 2 more seconds and when tried again I held for 3 secs and that's when I clicked this picture. My gooshhhhh!!!! Its a big freaking deal for me from where I can see it. Embracing and celebrating my baby improvements #postpartum ! THIS right here is my another motivation to keep going.
I'm patient with my body and practice. I keep trying Coz that's one thing that's totally I am capable of. Regardless of however much slow the improvements I am making, the thing that I can still get on my mat and can practice, IS everything to me right now.
