Here’s a secret. If you find yourself in York desperate need of afternoon tea but the queue outside Betty’s is round the block then sneak up Stonegate and see if there’s any room here. I think I prefer it. The walls are crooked, the fire is warm, the service is impeccable and you don’t feel like you’re in a fishbowl being stared down by people who have joined the queue for your table. Finally got this shot of York Minster from the City Walls! And the cheerful daffodils are still in bloom as well ... Anyone else feel like Spring is really here this weekend ... It’s free to walk the 3.4km Walls that guard what would have been the original city of York. It’s a lovely way to see the city and with several gates around the walls, you can jump on and off to enjoy more of the city centre itself!
