Back with another lavender based recipe!! Lavender + rosemary infused cleaner // —I’ve been wanting to get the most out of all my rosemary flowers and having a differently scented cleaner to have on my cleaning days! This is the perfect combo for some much needed spring cleaning! How-to: • place 1 cup of lavender flowers + a few sprigs of rosemary into a jar of your choice (depending on the size of jar you used, you may need to add more than these measurements) ***I’m reusing a pasta sauce jar from @public_goods_ • fill jar up with white vinegar. I used about 2 cups to fill my jar up! • give it a good stir and seal with lid. Allow to sit for 1-2 weeks. • once it’s finished sitting, dilute with equal parts water and you’re ready to start cleaning! ***Lavender has so many amazing benefits apart from its incredible aroma such as promoting good hair health, relieving respiratory issues, pain relief, skin healing and more! I’m so excited to continue experimenting with my lavender flowers!

On the weekend in my stories, I asked for misconceptions that you feel people have about living a zero-waste or low-impact lifestyle. Over 20 percent of the responses were along the lines of “People think it’s expensive.” . Some zero-waste items do cost more up front, such as menstrual cups and cloth pads. But they pay for themselves pretty quickly (and if you are handy, you can sew pads!). Certain foods at the bulk bins cost more—and others cost less. Make the best decision for you. As for zero-waste gear, please do not rush out and spend hundreds of dollars on reusable items. Use what you own first. . So I woke up this morning and needed a picture for this Instagram post to highlight frugal living—the theme of my new blog post. Then I remembered that last night, I removed just the peel from a couple of lemons using a vegetable peeler, spread the peels on a tray and froze them to use later. That’s a good frugal tip! I’ll use them to flavor kombucha or ginger beer or mince up for baking. They add so much lemony goodness. . After I opened up my camera, I then realized that my setup revealed more zero-waste habits. The secondhand glass pyrex dish that I used for freezing came from the side of the road. I froze the extra lemon juice from the zested lemons in a baby food jar to use later. A friend gave me at least 20 of these jars and I love them! The lemons came from my daughter’s coworker’s tree. But wait there’s more! Chandra found the teak table that I used as a backdrop (and the accompanying bench) on the side of the road—yes, for free. So, total cost for everything in this post: $0. . I realize that not everyone has access to lemon trees or lives in an area where neighbors put very nice stuff out on the curb.
