The entire process was lengthy but smooth, while then, we had a chance to spoke to a security expert assigned to our case‍♂️ . “So you guys must be making some real cash with all that customer info”. We didn’t quite know what he meant until we unveil the darkside of the entire story. . Like Youtubers, some companies are constantly looking for new ways to monetize; most of them squeezed their margin so thin, raced all the way to the bottom; they can’t afford staffing, higher quality shipping and overall better customer support. So, they need to find a way to keep themselves a float‍♂️ . . “Naturally, most companies are engaging in some form of Sale of Customer Data, even direct solicitation. Cause, quick cash, why not?”. . No, it is not ok, no it is not “natural”. Personal information is the most valuable asset to any individual person, a customer trusted you with his/her identity doesn’t mean one has the rights to sell it out Honestly, we didn’t expect a simple system upgrade got turned into a lesson of reality, it really got us thinking on price versus value. Really got us thinking, when we saved a few bucks, so much of “us” are we selling out just to save that few bucks, and is it worth it .
