Balloons... Apart from my normal tools (soft carving block SpeedyCarve by Speedball, Tsukineko Versafine Clair inkpads and my Pfeil carving tools) I used fineliner for the balloon strings...
Thank you @laasya___ for suggesting me to print ballons ... What a fun printing session I had with these little balloons.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Today I am just grateful... There might not be much new for today's pattern: I revisited two "old" blocks (Day 14 and Day 18 of #the100dayproject to be precise) and did what seems to be my favorite thing at the moment: I added some dots again ...
BUT: While printing this pattern, a recent conversation with Ella of @inkycatprints on the masking of her orca pattern came to my mind. I instantly knew that I had to use this technique in this print to achieve the envisioned effect. You might not even notice it (and I would not expect you to even bother if you just want to enjoy the pattern and are not interested in the techniques behind).
NOW, you might be asking why am I sharing this little story and what does it have to do with me being grateful? This little community here on Instagram is just amazing. And with community I mean YOU as my followers who are cheering me on on a daily basis with your comments, likes or just following along. With community I also mean YOU fellow printmakers (and artists in general) - who are not only posting photos of finished prints or other artworks but generously share so much information on their process, daily life or struggles in captions and stories as well as the conversations.
All this inspires me, educates me and also helps me to work on becoming better every single day. My skills would not be at this level without this community. For this I just want to say THANK YOU! Thank you to you as my followers who show up regularly cheering me on as well as fellow printmakers and artists for generously sharing your art and knowledge!

I can't let go of the dots ;-) ... When carving new blocks or playing around with patterns when printing I tend to ask myself the question of how much of an element is needed (or when do I reach the point of too much) in order to make the pattern more interesting. So today I was looking for the "optimum" number of red dots... I have my personal favourite but what is yours? Swipe for the options. (20/100 of #100daysofpatterns) ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

A variation of the cubes (and stars) of Day 35. My brain finds it much easier to see the star in these variations than the print of Day 35 (Swipe to print number 4 to see the version from Day 35). #opticalillusion

Today I am back to some #patternplay with recently carved blocks. It just felt right to combine my abstract flower from the day before yesterday with my Asanoha blocks which still fascinating me.
Now it is time to move on to new symbols. What are your favourites? Pssst, I am looking for some inspiration on which symbols to carve next - any recommendations? Any symbols you would like to see here on 3dottedpenguins?
