I always feel a little self-concious when posting ballet photos. I feel that Ballet is a very “perfectionistic” sport, it’s all about having the perfect lines, having beautifully arched feet, keeping a soft face expression, - while pulling up and in everything else ! . I realise I’m learning ballet as an adult, which has it’s challenges and limitations. Still the Girl who nervously stepped into the ballet studio three years ago, is very different from this Girl in the photo. I’ve learned so much and realised I still have soooo much to learn. Ballet is an art-form and even though my lines are not “perfect” and I don’t have incredibly arched feet, this body of mine is learning ballet, and making this Girl happy in the process. . Lets be honest, the Real reason I love ballet is that I get to wear pretty tutus !! . In the beginning I couldn’t believe that I got to wear all of these pretty leotards, with lace, mesh and open backs, matched with lacey skirts, silk ribbons and Tutus ! I remember how it felt like I was dressing up for some big event whenever I was changing into my ballet wear ! . Now I don’t think about it anymore, it feels more practical than anything. We use tights because we need it for pointwork, leotards because it lets our teacher and ourselves see our posture and make sure all the muscles work properly, skirts are for “modesty” and leg warmers and coverups are to keep the muscles warm ‍♀️! . However this season we are doing “the shades” from #bayadere and we get to wear a veil and a tiara .
