Our hearts are broken... . . . ...for our Ruffie. We reported last week he had been adopted, was going in to have surgery for his luxating patella, then was going home at long last. He had his surgery, was ready to be picked up but his adopter failed to show.☹️ . . . Volunteers & Staff are giving him loads of love but we are all so sad that our boy who waited so long to be adopted is once again waiting. . . . Ruffie’s favorite activities include playing ball & splashing around in the pool though during his recovery post surgery he’ll not be able to indulge for a few weeks. In the meantime belly rubs, stuffies, & couch cuddling will have to do. . . Ruffalo is 3 years old. His energy level once fully recovered would be perfectly matched to an active family. Senior pup has been thru too much . . . She entered the Care Center system in Downey, was transferred to Agoura when she was discovered to have mammary tumors. She had her first mastectomy in February along w a dental but had to go back to the Vet due to fluid build up. Her second mastectomy was in April where she fared much better. And then we got the best news of all...her tumors were all BENIGN! She’s a healthy pup! . . . Ashley had a short stint in foster care but we found out pretty quickly she’s a no cat kind of gal. However we were able to gather some additional information on her house manners which has been very helpful! She’s housebroken, needs a secure yard as she does like to give chase to the smaller yard creatures (that’s the bit of husky in her!), is delightful with mature people and loves sleeping on the bed with her human. Ball time is a fave, two balls preferred. Ashley likes a fair trade, one to hold on to until the second ball entices a drop of the first. . . . What a face! . . . Meet Pixie! ‍♂️We are all madly in love with this precious pittie gal! . . . A recent transfer from our Downey Animal Care Center Pixie has endeared herself to human & dog alike (she’s become the tester dog for temp tests and couldn’t be more perfect!) . . . Volunteer Tiffany reports she is very, very sweet, loves to be petted and loves belly rubs. Play yard time is a fave but with her pink skin & white fur she’s sun sensitive. Volunteers make sure she always has her sun screen on. And though it’s been determined that 7 year old Pixie is deaf it hasn’t caused her any issues. . . . He’s blind & mostly deaf . . . Though seemingly not old enough to have lost his sight & hearing at just age 8 we wonder if he’s been this way a good portion of his life. To watch him navigate his kennel & the play cage is a wonder. He seems to avoid bumping into barriers and when he does it tends to be a gentle bump. . . . Alfred came to us from our Downey Animal Care Center. Since he’s been with us we’ve found him to be the sweetest little Chi! He senses when we enter the space he’s in, he’ll immediately seek us out. A kiss is usually offered once he’s found his human visitor. . . .
