Rocky came in as a stray... . . . ...but he was found in Sunland which isn’t an area covered by Agoura. He was due to be be picked up by City of LA Animal Services which is where he needed to be to give his family a chance to find him. . . Meanwhile Rocky’s family had been frantically looking for him for a week having no idea he was in Agoura 40 miles away. . . . Fortunately Volunteer Stacy after some digging on a lost animal site was able find a match...Rocky and his very grateful Dad were re-united yesterday! . . . If you find a stray please take the animal to the Animal Control facility that covers the City you found the animal in. It saves a family much heart ache as they look for their animal and saves busy Animal Control agencies from having to dispatch an officer miles away to pick up an animal taken to the wrong agency. And making sure your pet is microchipped and the contact information is up to date is the best way to assure quick notification your pet has been found. . . . Our hearts are broken... . . . ...for our Ruffie. We reported last week he had been adopted, was going in to have surgery for his luxating patella, then was going home at long last. He had his surgery, was ready to be picked up but his adopter failed to show.☹️ . . . Volunteers & Staff are giving him loads of love but we are all so sad that our boy who waited so long to be adopted is once again waiting. . . . Ruffie’s favorite activities include playing ball & splashing around in the pool though during his recovery post surgery he’ll not be able to indulge for a few weeks. In the meantime belly rubs, stuffies, & couch cuddling will have to do. . . Ruffalo is 3 years old. His energy level once fully recovered would be perfectly matched to an active family. Sarabi/Portia Pupdate 2! . . . We just posted an update on her but we were so touched by her Dad’s words we had to share: “After a week, Portia is doing fantastic and really made herself home. She comes when I call her tail wagging! She is starting to play with toys. Over the big weekend we stayed in Westlake at my girl friend's condo with her two pugs. All good and better than expected. During walks in the area where there are many dogs and wildlife Portia came alive. She had her tail up, ears perked, tracked, rolled in the grass and was truly happy...She seems to be starting to understand that she is safe, loved, protected and won't be abandoned. And now it's late afternoon. I'm a musician so I like to take the time and sit on the patio playing the guitar (blues mostly). And Portia hangs out with me quite content. I feel so lucky to have found and adopted her." . . . Senior pup has been thru too much . . . She entered the Care Center system in Downey, was transferred to Agoura when she was discovered to have mammary tumors. She had her first mastectomy in February along w a dental but had to go back to the Vet due to fluid build up. Her second mastectomy was in April where she fared much better. And then we got the best news of all...her tumors were all BENIGN! She’s a healthy pup! . . . Ashley had a short stint in foster care but we found out pretty quickly she’s a no cat kind of gal. However we were able to gather some additional information on her house manners which has been very helpful! She’s housebroken, needs a secure yard as she does like to give chase to the smaller yard creatures (that’s the bit of husky in her!), is delightful with mature people and loves sleeping on the bed with her human. Ball time is a fave, two balls preferred. Ashley likes a fair trade, one to hold on to until the second ball entices a drop of the first. . . . What a face! . . . Meet Pixie! ‍♂️We are all madly in love with this precious pittie gal! . . . A recent transfer from our Downey Animal Care Center Pixie has endeared herself to human & dog alike (she’s become the tester dog for temp tests and couldn’t be more perfect!) . . . Volunteer Tiffany reports she is very, very sweet, loves to be petted and loves belly rubs. Play yard time is a fave but with her pink skin & white fur she’s sun sensitive. Volunteers make sure she always has her sun screen on. And though it’s been determined that 7 year old Pixie is deaf it hasn’t caused her any issues. . . . Injured & in need of help... . . . Fortunately the construction workers on site called the Agoura Animal Care Center who promptly sent Officer Kennedy to the address. The rescue was made during a thunderstorm. The raccoon safely removed from the property was taken to the Wildlife Center and is receiving the care needed to eventually be released back into the wild. . . .
