SOTD: Ambre Nuit by Christian Dior. The best offering from the Dior Prive Collection (now called Maison Christian Dior) IMO. So today’s #sotd is #dior #ambrenuit inspired by a group of fellow admirers and a post by @parfumxvee which made me think...I love this so much and have championed it since my love at first sniff but I don’t wear it very often. It’s like one of those precious things like a gold watch or some geek hoarding a limited edition collectible, kept snuggly and hermetically sealed in its packaging to retain value. This is one that does come out to play though, but like those examples, something you get a warm feeling about, just at the knowledge that it’s in your wardrobe at home. It’s not a typical amber in fact it’s one of the most unique in approach. Ambre nuit is not some dry, ancient bookcase or Egyptian tomb but a lighter, fresher take on the accord. (That description doesn’t even do it justice) This is mainly due to more of an ambergris direction, adding that indulgent, soft sweetness and sea spray then a beautiful rose note completely balanced and free of cliché. Still retaining the effects of a benzoin vanilla but not reliant on them. Ambre nuit is perfect in every way, I fail to see how this wouldn’t charm anyone. A big shout to Vee for buying this and reminding me to wear it today and her inspiration @a_nose_addicted & @scented_souls and countless other people I’ve spoken to who love this one like @nicholasjamesmith for example.
