Temple Tales #14 Cave No 3 - Badami, Karnataka Rock cut caves of Badami in Karnataka have caves belonging to Shaiv, Jain, Buddhist & Vaishnav sects. Carved in the rock of the shade of Badam or Almonds these ancient caves have many stories to tell. I visited Badami along with Aihole & Pattadakal in 2008 with a group of couchsurfers. I was so mesmerized by the beauty of these temples that I actually wrote a poem about them in chaste Hindi. Cave no 3 is among the largest of caves & has this unusual image of Vishnu seated on Sheshnaag, we usually see him sleeping on one during Maha Pralaya. The pillars on both side of the corridor are imposing & carved so differently from each other. Being one of the oldest carved caves & sitting right in the middle of line that divides North & South India, Badami caves & temple towns around it are treasure trove for students of architecture & Indology. . गुफा के अन्दर स्थित इस दिव्य शिवलिंग का झरने की बूंदों से होता है अभिषेक . हर हर महादेव️ . हरे-भरे पहाड़ों के बीच गुफा स्थित कल्याण केदारेश्वर प्राकृतिक सौंदर्य से भरपूर है। यहां आस पास झरने हैं जिनकी धारा लगातार शिवालय के सामने बने कुंड में गिरती रहती है। केदारेश्वर धाम हरिश्चंद्रगड़ किले में स्थित है। यहाँ पर 5 फीट ऊँचा शिवलिंग चारों और से पानी से घिरा हैं कोई भी व्यक्ति इस शिवलिंग तक आसानी से नहीं पहुँच सकता है क्योंकि ये पानी बहुत ही ठंडा है। और बारिश के मोसम मे चारो ओर से पानी से बंद हो जाता है। . . इस शिवलिंग की खास बात यह है की इस शिवलिंग के चारों ओर स्तम्भ लगे हैं और ये सभी चार स्तम्भ प्रत्येक युग की समाप्ति पर टूट जाते हैं। अभी तक कुल तीन स्तम्भ जो की सतयुग, द्वापरयुग और त्रेतायुग के आने पर टूट चुके हैं और सिर्फ एक स्तम्भ बचा है जिसके बारे मे कहा जा रहा है की ये स्तम्भ कलियुग की समाप्ति पर टूट जाएगा। महादेव की लीला अपरम्पार है। . This temple has 5 feet tall Shiv Linga and it's surrounded by water year-round. The pillars here are said to have particular meaning, Four pillars symbolise the four Yugas 'Satya Yuga', 'Tretha Yuga', 'Dwapara Yuga' & 'Kali Yuga' Each pillar breaks by itself at the end of each yuga and its standing on one pillar at the moment.
