Palazzo Colonna is a Roman palace that extends over an area where buildings, houses and fortresses are documented here before the year 1000; they belonged to the Counts of Tusculum, from which descends the noble family of the Colonna to also the palace belonged. Since the 12th century there has been news of a palace and a Colonna castle in the area where the current one is located. The building then underwent renovations and reconstructions over the years. Today it retains all the charm of a Roman patrician residence of the Baroque age. In addition to the splendid vault of the gallery, frescoed by Giovanni Coli and Filippo Gherardi, there are several rooms decorated by great artists. The museum nowadays houses paintings by artists such as Bronzino, Carracci, Tura, Pietro da Cortona, Guercino, Tintoretto and Paolo Veronese.⁠ •⁠ Palazzo Colonna è un palazzo romano che si estende su un'area dove già prima dell'anno 1000 sono documentati edifici, case, fortezze appartenenti ai conti di Tuscolo, dai quali discende la nobile famiglia dei Colonna a cui appartiene. The Puente Nuevo is the newest and largest of three bridges that span the 120-metre-deep chasm that carries the Guadalevín River and divides the city of Ronda, in southern Spain. The architect was José Martin de Aldehuela, who died in Málaga in 1802. The chief builder was Juan Antonio Díaz Machuca. The construction of the newest bridge (the one that stands today) started in 1759 and took about 34 years to end. The Broadway Tower is a decorative architectural construction located near Broadway in Worcestershire and completed in 1798. It was built at one of the highest points of the Cotswolds hills in southwestern England. The tower, about 17 meters high, was designed by James Wyatt to remember a fake castle; it was built for Lady Coventry on a hill used for remote signaling and, on particularly clear days, thirteen counties can be seen from its summit.⠀ •⠀ La Broadway Tower è una costruzione architettonica di tipo decorativo situata nei pressi di Broadway, nel Worcestershire e completata nel 1798. The Nossa Senhora da Graça Fort, officially Conde de Lippe Fort, is a fort in the village of Alcáçova, about 1 kilometre north of the town of Elvas in the Portalegre District of Portugal.⠀ It stands in a dominant position on the Monte da Graça (Hill of Grace) and forms part of the Garrison Border Town of Elvas and its Fortifications, which in 2012 was classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.⠀ The strategic importance of the fort was demonstrated during the Portuguese Restoration War. A century later, during the Seven Years' War (1756-1763) King Joseph I of Portugal and the Marquis of Pombal called on Marshal Lippe to reorganize the Portuguese army and draw up plans for the modernization of the stronghold.⠀ The work began in 1763 and the fort reopened in 1792.⠀ •⠀ Il forte di Nossa Senhora da Graça, ufficialmente il forte di Conde de Lippe, è un forte nel villaggio di Alcáçova, a circa 1 km a nord della città di Elvas, nel distretto Portalegre del Portogallo.⠀ Si trova in una posizione dominante sul Monte da Graça (Collina delle Grazie) e fa parte della Città di frontiera della guarnigione di Elvas e delle sue fortificazioni, che nel 2012 è stata classificata come patrimonio mondiale dell'UNESCO.⠀ L'importanza strategica del forte è stata dimostrata durante la guerra di restauro portoghese. @medievalculture ⚜⠀ Heddal stave church (Heddal stavkirke) is a church located in Heddal, Norway, and dates back to the early thirteenth century, although not all scholars agree about this dating. It is the largest of all the preserved wooden churches and today is the destination of many tourists and also preserves its liturgical functions of Lutheran church. It has a monumental aspect, the plan consists of a nave, a choir with a semicircular apse and a gallery that surrounds the whole church. The church has not yet been thoroughly investigated at the archaeological level. The first researches have found some traces of older wood, which suggests that today's structures is replacing a cult building, prior to the current one. There are some inscriptions in runic alphabet in the outer corridor, which indicate that the church was consecrated to the Virgin Mary in 1242.⠀ ⚔⚔⚔⚔⠀ Heddal kilisesi (Heddal stavkirke), Norveç'in Heddal kentinde bulunan bir kilisedir. McCaig's Tower is a prominent tower on Battery Hill overlooking the town of Oban in Argyll, Scotland. It is built of Bonawe granite taken from the quarries across Airds Bay, on Loch Etive, from Muckairn, with a circumference of about 200 metres with two-tiers of 94 lancet arches. The structure was commissioned by a wealthy, philanthropic banker, McCaig. The tower was erected between 1897 and 1902. McCaig's intention was to provide a lasting monument to his family, and provide work for the local stonemasons during the winter months. He was an admirer of Roman and Greek architecture, and had planned for an elaborate structure, based on the Colosseum in Rome.⠀ •⠀ La McCaig's Tower è una prominente torre sulla Battery Hill che domina la città di Oban, Argyll, in Scozia.
