Prada is the latest brand to join fashion’s #antifur movement. After a targeted public protest and months of behind-the-scenes discussions, the luxury group, which also owns Miu Miu, Church’s and Car Shoe, will cease using animal fur from Spring/Summer 2020 onwards. It joins a growing list of brands and retailers turning their backs on animal fur, including Gucci, Burberry and Versace. However, it has been months since the last major brand announced it was dropping #fur. Will Prada’s move help reignite momentum and which brands might be next? Cities are joining the movement too. In New York, the largest market for fur in the US, the city council is considering a ban on the sale of fur apparel. San Francisco and Los Angeles have already passed similar bans, coming into effect this year and in 2021, respectively. The ban won’t have much impact on the #Prada’s bottom line, as fur accounts for less than 0.1 percent of the materials currently used in production, but it will likely give the luxury brand a marketing boost. Copenhagen was lovely in many ways, but I saw far too many people parading around in full fur coats, not a single one of them the rightful owner of that fur. Apart from all the cutie doggos Just remember that when you wear fur, even a fur trim or bobble on your hat, you pay for innocent beings to be tortured, mutilated, and murderered in some of the most horrific ways. And when we see you walking down the street in fur, we do not think you look beautiful. No way! All we see is the pure ugliness of the fur farming/trade industry around your neck... if you could look yourself in the mirror and see the reality of that process, the dead bodies around your neck and on your head, the blood, the screams, i know that anyone with an ounce of empathy would never wear it again. What does that say? That says that you do not truly like what you pay for. That shows a clear disconnection. And if you are unprepared to see the process, then why are you paying for it? ..If somehow you're still unsure of what happens in these industries, then please watch PELS, Earthlings or have a look at the numerous undercover investigations on YouTube that expose this... on the other hand, loads of love to my compassionate friends and fam out there who leave the animals out of their wardrobe!
