Try as I did, my 20 minute guided tour of the interiors was too short for me to successfully capture the absolutely mesmerizing quality of the light filtering in through the louvers. Detail of the openable louvres that form the outer skin of both the rooms and the corridors at "Golconde", Pondicherry. Made of asbestos reinforced concrete with beautiful brass locking mechanisms. The architects had the foresight to cast 30 percent extra louvers, so that any replacements for future breakages would also have aged exactly the same.
