Here are a few process videos I found on my portable telephone, showing some of the construction of a gold-leafed ‘Our Lady of the Everything’ and ‘Veil’ from my ‘Six Women’ box set (see previous post for details), both from a little while back. ‘Our Lady...’ is inspired by, amongst other things, the Hindu Goddess Kali: Mother of the manifest Universe and Goddess of Time, Creation & Destruction, the dynamic Shakti energy dancing on the transcendent silence of Shiva... As the destroyer of ignorance, delusion, demons and obstacles she doesn’t mess about. This was a screen print gold-leafed and then drawn in to with pencil, as I tend to do, and also adorned with many tiny white ink d.o.t..s.............. I’m not sure where it is now, New York somewhere I think. ✨ ‘Veil’ was originally made in 2011, and appeared again in the box set in 2016. She was part of 12 pictures I made for a series entitled ‘Feather and Claw’, portraits of 6 female and 6 male figures made of plant, animal and mineral elements, wearing human masks or peering out through said elements through veils, cracks and apertures... It’s the end of 2018, and I’m much looking forward to the pictures that are already forming - some already fully formed - for 2019. .
