Linden Place // 1810 // Russell Warren // This Federal house is one of the most elaborate I’ve ever seen! The home was built for George DeWolf a merchant who went bankrupt just 15 years later and left town. A couple subsequent additions were added including the Gothic-style sunroom on the right. A later owner, Russell Colt married renowned actress Ethel Barrymore (yes, the same family as @drewbarrymore ). The home was acquired from the Colt family in 1988 and is now run by @lindenplace and can be rented out for events!

The beauty of the moment never did hold any promise of permanence; nor did it ask to be remembered in any way. And for those of us that seek to preserve its beauty, is your way really the way? #beautifuldestinations #archi_ologie #mydccool #igdc #acreativedc #dc_eyes #theprettycities #postitfortheaesthetic #momentsofmine #itsamazingoutthere #bestcitybreaks #walkwithlocals #washingtondc #liveadventurously #travelwithfathom #culturetrip #tlpicks #beautifulmatters #traveldeeper #anthropologie #travelblogger #theotherdc #dcitystyle #travelstoke #cherryblossom #cherryblossomfestival #theprettydistrict
I would say this has to be the most unique home I’ve ever come across here in Louisville!
There are so many eclectic details to this house that I’m not sure where to begin. The maroon cut outs, tiny windows which I’m not sure even open...they could just be decorative ...even the outline is almost bubble like, carrying through to the overhead car entrance. But what caught my eye first are these half circles, that are engraved into the stucco itself.
Though it’s not exactly my style I can certainly appreciate everything that went into building this home. So what does everyone else think of this stand out? Would you live here?
The small towns that comprise the I-75 corridor north of Dayton boast an impressive collection of 19th century architecture. This opulent example of Second Empire in Piqua features a Neoclassical portico, ornate porte-cochere, and intact mansard roof.
