The Bündner Kunstmuseum was designed by Estudio Barozzi Veiga (@FabrizioBarozzi + @AlbertoFVeiga) as an extension to the Villa Planta in Chur, Switzerland. The Villa Planta, a historical building, was constructed in a Neo-Palladian style. The original plan of the Villa is based on La Rotonda by Palladio. This Palladian influence has also had an impact on Barozzi Veiga’s design for the new extension. In conceiving the new building, they extracted the axis and Cartesian geometry from the Villa Planta and created a continuity between the historical building and the new addition. Just as in a diptych, they have attempted to preserve the autonomy of each building, while maintaining a unity between them by basing them on the same originary element. The result is that each building has its own history, its own figure, yet both contain the same unifying framework. In the new building, the Neo-Palladian influence is manifested through its double symmetry and the organization of the exhibition area as a series of connected rooms – in a similar manner to the Villa Planta. In view is an extension to the Santa Fe de Bogotá Medical Foundation, completed in 2016 in Bogotá, Colombia, by El Equipo Mazzanti (@Equipo_Mazzanti). The project proposes to solve the urban and internal fragmentation of the existing complex, to connect people to the institutional image and to improve the lives of patients and caregivers. The Santa Fe is one of Colombia's most important medical institutions, and has since its inception been committed to community service, education, and is devoted to contributing to the welfare of individuals and society in the country. The new addition incorporates gardens, sun rooms, and green areas as spaces to stimulate recovery and mental well-being.
