The most striking feature of this simple home is the way it sits so comfortably with the surroundings, almost as a part of it. The sloping roof that touches the ground carries the surrounding greens onto the building, making it one seamless composition. The dark tones of the house let the nature around shine and the smalle coves that open out are cosy with their timber cladding. It is a design that is understated, minimal and is very careful to not disturb its surroundings, so much so that the trees on the site become an integral part of the design itself.

Sitting across 265 sq.m this building is as much about open spaces as it is about closed. The garden wall practically dictates the way you experience the spaces in this building, drawing you to widely lit, green open spaces around which you slow down your pace and meander. With spaces being lifted off the ground on timber stilts, you experience the open spaces very differently. Rugged materials coupled with generous open areas on either side brings back memories of older, warmer homes. Although a renovation project, this volume is contemporary with an old-world soul.

This unique 11mX30m volume balances itself on top of a mound and cantilevers dramatically on one end to allow parking in the shade of the house. Minimalistic and contemporary the geometric simple volume of the house just stands apart dramatically from its surroundings. Large windows allow spectacular views of the surrounding landscape, while it is the entrance that leaves you with the biggest impact. A series of overdrawn stairs seamlessly floating against the land take you to this beautiful home. You experience the full power of the composition as you ascend through these.
