Did you know you can use Lumin's Workshop Foam Clay as a gap filler on EVA foam projects? Here's how! . 1. Brush a thin layer of water on to the foam surface where you want the clay. Let the water soak into the foam slightly. . 2. Apply pieces of Lumin's Foam Clay to the crack in foam, and to the area surrounding it. Give yourself lots of room to feather the edges, and make sure to evenly cover the gap. Any extra material will be sanded down. . 3. Let dry for 48 hours before sanding . 4. Using 220 grit sandpaper, carefully sand the edges where the Foam Clay meets the foam. The aim is to feather the dried clay so it meets with the EVA foam seamlessly. Avoid over sanding the area where the Foam Clay covers the gap. . Voila! No more gaps! #foamclayfriday Need hollow light weight horns? Here's how you can make them with @luminsworkshop Foam Clay: 1. Begin by drawing your horn shape on whatever material you have handy (paper, cardboard, scrap EVA foam etc.). This will be your guide for the form shape. 2. Using paper and tape, create a rough 3D form of your horn, using the guide you made previously as a reference. 3. Cover the form with paper towel. 4. You are now ready to sculpt! Press foam clay directly onto the paper towel and cover the form completely. 5. Smooth with your fingers and/or a damp sponge. 6. Leave the piece to dry. Curing time will vary depending on the thickness of the horn walls. 7. Once dry, remove the paper and paper towel from the center. I fiddled around with laying some test lights into the channels in the armor and then laying LED foam from @luminsworkshop on top to diffuse. It looks like it’ll work ok I just need to get a lot more led strips and spend a ton of time cutting them apart and rewiring them so they’ll lay flat inside the channels. This LED foam and the EVA was provided by @ardawigscanada. I’ll be on stream doing more foam work in an hour or so. It’s #FoamFriday y’all! @chomperscosplay was kind enough to document the build of this awesome Bowsette shell build using all @luminsworkshop products, swipe to see! ⏩ ——————————————————— Here’s how I made my Bowsette shell All foam, bevels & foam clay are from @luminsworkshop / @ardawigscanada 1️⃣ Use plastic wrap and tape to make a pattern on a semi circle shape (I used a foam semicircle from Michaels). 2️⃣ Transfer the pattern to 6mm EVA foam. 3️⃣ Use barge to glue the pieces together and a dremel to smooth the seams. 4️⃣ Using 2mm EVA foam cut out hexagons & use barge to glue them to the shell. 5️⃣ Use 4mm EVA foam to make spikes. 6️⃣ Use foam clay for the rims around the spikes & a 20mm EVA foam bevel for the outer rim. 7️⃣ Plastidip to seal & prepare for painting. 8️⃣ Use acrylic paints to colour & Krylon clear acrylic spray sealer to protect your paint job & complete the look! ——————————————————— #cosplay #ardawigscanada #torontocosplay #bowsettecosplay #evafoam #foamsmith #foam #foambuild #bowsette #bowser #cosplaytutorial #cosplaydiy #cosplayhowto #tutorial #diy #arda

Easily form curved armour pieces using heat and Form-Lite foam by Lumin's Workshop! This week we made a simple shoulder pauldron out of 5mm Form-Lite. The end result is a fantastic flexible base, perfect for adding scales or other details. . Having trouble with your contact cement? Every adhesive has a different "sweet spot" for the perfect bond. Remember to experiment and do your research to find the right technique for your adhesive and project. Wipe away excess adhesive before adhering to prevent it from sandwiching out of your seam. .
