Today’s wedding post is going to be an exception: the couple below doesn’t belong to any royal or noble family. But they’re true legends. And the bride’s dress is such an inspo (especially her headpiece, which reminds me a lot of a russian “kokoshnik”) that can suit even a queen. The groom – Francisco Rivera Pérez, known as Paquirri (1948 – 1984), was a Spanish bullfighter. The bride – Carmen Cayetana Ordóñez González, better known as Carmina Ordóñez (1955 - 2004), was a socialite and a leading woman in the Spanish press of her time. They got married on February 16, 1973, in the Basilica of San Francisco el Grande, in Madrid, Spain. The wedding was one of the most important social events of the moment. Paquirri (then 25y.o.) met Carmina Ordóñez (then 18 y.o.) in a bullring. Carmina was very regular in the world of bullfighting during her adolescence. Their marriage lasted six years, from 1973 to 1979, and resulted in two children, Francisco and Cayetano, who over the years followed their father's footsteps and became bullfighters. Paquirri was gored by a bull named "Avispado" (Spanish for street-smart, or wasp-like) during a bullfight in Pozoblanco, and died while he was being transported to Córdoba Hospital. • • • Сегодняшний свадебный пост станет исключением. DIANA’s WEDDING SHOES Though Lady Diana’s wedding shoes were mostly hidden beneath the Elizabeth and David Emanuel gown, they carried a little secret, a tribute to soon-to-be husband Charles. The shoes were created by celebrity cobbler Clive Shilton. Lady Diana’s main concern was that she wouldn't appear taller than Prince Charles, and because she was very tall (5'10"), the shoes would have to have a low heel. The pair were also covered with 542 sequins and 132 pearls. On the top the bride chose a heart-shaped design. But the mane secret was hidden on soles: on the arches of the suede soles (suede to keep Diana from tripping on TV) the princess had a small "C and D" painted right under the heel, with a heart between.
