Last night I saw a most spectacular sunset from the bus as I was driving into Argentina. Sadly I couldn't take any photos of it but this was one of my favourite sunsets in Paraguay. I feel like a got a good impression of Paraguay even though I left the whole north western part unvisited. Should you ever find yourself in tu vicinity of this nice little country I would say do yourself a favour and stop by. If you're in a hurry you can spend a week here and get in most of the sights. If you spend some more time you will also have a chance to feel the country and connect with its people. I had a great time, but now I'm very excited about being in Buenos Aires. In an otherwise quite little town this building demands all the attention. During the month of December people go on foot to this basilica ranging from an hour to full days of walking. It was interesting to see this as I happily whizzed by them in the comfort of an air conditioned car. While there may be many people that visit Asunción I don't think too many of them will describe this place as captivating. I think most will say it lacks big attractions, or world class museums or natural splendour and I would probably have to agree with them. So most people stop for a day or two just that get a taste. But Asunción doesn't deliver that instant gratification, you are not hooked after the first shot. It's more like a fine wine, you have to let it breath first allow it some time to reach its potential. The true richness of this city is in its inhabitants. The Paraguayans are a proud people and very kind hearted and they will stop at nothing to make sure that you will too see the beauty that can be found here. I was lucky enough to meet a few of these wonderful people who have shown me around the city and its neighbouring areas. They took me to eat and drink where the locals go and have brought me to their friends and family, where everybody was always more than kind to me. . So would I recommend you go to Asunción? You're damn right I would. But I would suggest you linger around for a few days more than you normally would. Taking day trips away from the city can be a bit of an ordeal. To get to this place all we had to do was take a local bus at the cost of less than half a euro, but it did take almost 2 hours to cover 24km. Was the view worth it? I'll leave that for you to judge.
