Hi! I think we’re due for #fridayintroductions... We’re Kenny and Sarah! Our little farm is in Hall’s Harbour, Nova Scotia on the top of the North Mountain overlooking the Bay of Fundy. We grow over 100 different varieties of plants solely for cut flower production. We have three cats, two rabbits, eight laying hens, and (as of last week) six guinea fowl. Life wasn’t always like this though, we used to live in the suburbs, grinding our way through workweek after workweek. We worked opposite shifts, got stuck in rush hour traffic, and felt like something was missing. We knew that we needed to make a change and live a life that didn’t keep us apart, rich in meaningful moments, and time spent with nature. Our quest eventually led us here, to our little farm, and we packed up our life, left our jobs, said goodbye our friends and family, and made the trek from Dundas, Ontario to Canada’s east coast. That was nearly two years ago and so much has happened since then! Our farm has come further than we could have ever imagined and we are so grateful to be part of a wonderful community who shares in our excitement, and is so supportive of our farm. We’ve made some really incredible friends too, and Nova Scotia has become our home in every way. We did a lot of homework before we started farming, and really dove right in when we got here. Without a doubt this experience has been the most challenging thing we’ve ever done. I’ve never felt so much... joy, heartache, worry, love, wonder, excitement, and fear all in one season of life. We’re still grinding through workweek after workweek, but now we get to do together. We’ve each carved out our roles on the farm, like two streams flowing into one.
