An experience...the chilli really worked & it reminded me of the chilli chocolate at Cadbury’s World when I was a kid! Wonder if they still do that! . Nice one CB_etc - enjoyed this, felt like a lovingly brewed & high quality beer! . From the Google as worth adding all the details: “A rich, sweet and intense stout aged on Cocoa Nibs, Vanilla, Cinnamon, Ancho, Pasilla and Mulato Chillis. Layers of hot chocolate flavours pair with woody, spicy cinnamon and a warming chilli heat on the finish.”

If you visit Hull (European Capital of Culture 2018), you can look through England’s smallest window, take a lift through a shark tank in Europe’s deepest sub-aquarium and eat the World’s best snack of a patty butty with scraps and chipspice. And if that’s wasn’t enough, you can now drink @atombearbrew ‘s delights at @atombarhull ! 〰️ The design: A scatter graph plotting my drinking habits over a year. 〰️ The taste: Butterscotch Angel Delight, pineapple, tangerine, beef Oxo cubes, jam doughnuts, orange peel, guava and dank resin. @craftbeer_etc linked me into @hashtagbeereviews post asking me if I could concur if this was a splendid beer? Unfortunately I wasn’t in so my beer of said post was redirected to Royal Mail postal hub. I Guess you could call this a beer spoiler! . . . Well @craftbeer_etc I can concur this is a monstrous IIPA which kinda reminded me of @boundarybrewing Waterfall. Thick, resinous, boozy, citrusy. The difference with Double Helix to Waterfall is that this sits on a dank resinous weed backbone that lingers for eternity before surrendering to a tremendous boozy warmth! . . . This is as mentioned, Double Helix - IIPA - @atombeers - 8% ABV. . . . Poured a dark Iron Brew body with a foamy head that dissipated quickly with with FA carbonation. . Mouthfeel think, resinous and slightly oily. As this mellowed in the glass it develops a softer mouthfeel . . Aroma is citrus with grapefruit taking the lead with a huge punchy boozy awareness. . Palate, saturated in mosaic, citrus, centennial and chinook, intensely citrusy grapefruit, lemon and thick cut marmalade notes, sat on a fresh dank weed backbone that lasted for days. This then dissipated with a huge warm boozy pithy bitterness that would have you believe it was a grater ABV. So after injuring myself yesterday there was no running today. But we did have a nice 5 mile walk with baby Poppy. . I’ve been trying to speed recovery up today by alternating ice and heat. So this evening I decided to crack open just one beer and enjoy it in a hot bath. . This is Catalyst by @atombeers a 5.4% APA and it’s one of three beers I won in a beer giveaway comp ran by @craftbeer_etc . . The other 2 beers I won in this comp were North Brew x Finback DIPA and North Brew Triple Fruited Gose. And last night I had the DIPA and although I won’t post it here because I’ve already done so once this year I can confirm that it was amazing as ever and still one of my favourite beers of the year. As close as you can get to a 5/5. I also made some sweet potato wedges with the chip spice you threw in which were awesome! . Catalyst pours a pale gold with quickly fading white head. And the aroma is of pineapple and grapefruit. . I’ve never had anything from Atom before and this was really pretty decent. Nice flavours of orange, grapefruit and pineapple with some floral notes.
