Anyone else use to be a flower child and run around the fields collecting daisies to make a flower crown? The memories of skipping through tall grass to find the perfect collection of daisies will always remain special to me, so much so I still do it now. Hi lovelies, I’m happy to say I’m back in the saddle. I had a lovely time in Europe with friends and family (I’ll share some photos in my stories as soon as I’ve sorted through them), but it’s so good to be home. . While I’ve been gone the talented folks at @qagomastore have put together this fab display to coincide with their current Margaret Olley exhibition and @paperboatpress popped by and grabbed this excellent action shot of our work sitting side by side. I’ve discovered over the years that I am really resistant to taking time off from my art practice. I have no problem taking time off from anything else (especially housework) but I only seem to truly rest when I’m forced into it. A while back I got a shoulder injury and my physio told me to rest it, but I didn’t and then, of course it got chronic, to the point where I HAD to rest it and stop making for a couple of weeks. During this time I had a mental spring clean, gained some clarity and renewed focus, read some books, visited the art gallery, went for walks etc. So why does it often take something like an injury for us to stop and take a breath? Is it a fear of not keeping up in this world where being busy is like a badge of honour, and where we can see everyone else’s achievements on a daily, if not hourly, basis? I know myself, I was worried that I’d lose momentum, like losing your train of thought. But quite the opposite has happened- I feel really renewed and inspired. And the crazy part is, I know from experience that taking time off, and boredom even, is what the brain needs for creativity, and yet, I still fight it. #mytwocents #ceramics #pottery #handmade #australianceramics #landscape #instaart

Hi , I’m Emma, and I make all the pieces here on this little account. ✨ I started playing with clay at Uni around 10yrs ago when I moved from Armidale NSW to Newcastle. ✨ I decided to study makeup & special effects and move to the big smoke where i’ve worked as a freelancer across film, fashion and advertising ever since. This is where my admiration for photography and beautifully styled images comes from, working with creative professionals who have a meticulous eye for detail! ✨ I went back to Uni and studied ceramics at Cofa, spending some time @alfredceramics in upstate New York. Which was freeeeeezing but a blast. ✨ I came back full of ideas and fell straight into makeup fulltime again. A few years later I decided I wanted ceramics back in my life, and in October last year I decided to start Voluptuary as a culmination of all my interests. ✨ I love colour, making things with my hands ( especially messy things) design and flowers.
