What is your favorite? Does RED really catch your eye?

⭐I don't normally share my writing and author stuff over here, but several of you have asked lately, and it was kinda a fun day today, so I'm reposting what I posted over at my @rachelbatemanbooks account for y'all. ⭐ .... Two years ago, Someone Else's Summer released. I can't believe it has already been that long! . Truth is, while these two years have been some of the best of my life, they've also been the hardest, writing-wise. I got pregnant with Barnacle Toddler right about the same time this book sold to Running Press. That pregnancy wiped out any desire I had to write (which made edits hard). Talking to other mom authors, I learned this was super common and that it would go away. . But then he was born and I still struggled. And struggled and struggled and struggled. I started book after book after book (ideas I adore but just couldn't embrace), but...nothing. . No joke, I was starting to wonder if Someone Else's Summer was all I had in me. . And then, finally, I had a spark of an idea - the full framework for a book dropped right into my mind. It was super bare bones, but it was there. It came one afternoon* as I drove to my son's school to pick him up. It was born from a Chekhov short story I'd read years before and was randomly thinking about that day, and it consumed me fully from the moment it popped into my head. . This time, it felt different. It felt RIGHT for the first time in a LONG TIME. . I've been slowly learning my characters and outlining Make the Fireflies Dance ever since. Writing hasn't felt like this since I was deep into Someone Else's Summer. . It feels good to be back. . *It was January 24th...I remember because I remember weird stuff.

Goal this week is to get 5 query letters out and 5000 words written. What is your goal this week?

The publisher rec'd and read in 3 days and said he enjoyed it. There are Catholic ideas in it, so he could not publish.
