For the longest time I’ve kept my Instagram pretty private in terms of my personal life, sharing lots of photos from my favorite places but rarely anything of myself, my life or my family. The decision to open up and start sharing more, and especially to connect with other mothers through social media, has bubbled up over time—as I continue along my path of motherhood, my marriage, my career, and my 30s, there is more that I want to say, and share, and open up to others, and hear others’ stories as well. ⁣ ⁣ That being said, I’ve had this account for years and I know I have followers who have been around since the beginning who have never really ‘met’ the person I am behind these little squares. There are also a lot of new lovely faces on here. So, here are a few things about me:⁣ ⁣ I am a wife of almost six years, a mother to a beautiful 11 month-old boy, a pharmacist, a lover of sunsets and roses, an avid coffee drinker, a wine enthusiast, and a Beyoncé fan. I’ve never shared how I only breastfed Ivy and not my other girls and I’ve had quite a few requests too so here it is- Brook and I had P when we were still babies, I was just turning 19 and knew nothing about breastfeeding. I never reached out for support or even spoke to my doctor about it. Looking back I wish I had. Hindsight is 20/20 right? Well she came into our world the most beautiful and best thing that ever happened to us and I wanted to give her the world. I breastfed her for one whole week and it was terrible. I cried and bled and was in SO much pain and I literally didn’t know what to do. So I stopped. Fast forward to Tenley and all the bad memories from P flooded in. I tried for 2 days (Not really wanting too) and stopped. Fast forward to Cal and I honestly didn’t even want to breastfeed because I was SO happy with how each of my girls newborn stage went and I was SO scared to ruin it. Also let me say that Brook is VERY hands on and he loves to feed the girls and he would always would help with middle of the night feeds. So the nurse asked me if I was going to breastfeed and I flat out said no. I didn’t even want to try. What was the point right? (Let me also add in, This is my story and my honest truth so please no judgment). Anyhoo, Fast forward for the last time to when Cal was about 6 months old and I broke down HARD. She was really sick and I felt SO guilty all of a sudden for not breastfeeding her. I bawled to Brook and told him if we ever had another baby I WILL breastfeed them andddddd I did. ☺️ This time around I asked all the questions, I seeked help even before Ivy was born, I became more comfortable and confident with my body and I am truly so proud of myself. I’ll still never forgot sitting in the nicu when I got to feed Ivy for the first time and she latched and I had tears in my eyes. This is what everyone was talking about, That incredible feeling. I felt it and I was SO happy I got the chance too. I will also say that breast or bottle fed we are all incredible mothers and we DO NOT need to feel guilty for whichever choice we choose. You do what is best for YOU and your sweet babe. #fedisbest
