Jeg har sådan en idyllisk idé om, at jeg kan påvirke mine børns forhold til naturen med alt, hvad vi overhovedet kan foretage os med noget der kan spire ..At hver gang vi vander planter, sår frø, spiser hjemmedyrkede tomater, følger med i hindbær og jordbær, der vokser frem fra blomsterne, først farveløse, derefter med den fineste røde farve; at alle disse små ting og oplevelser vil fæstne sig som en dyb respekt for og hengivenhed til vores natur, der som samling af alle dens elementer udgør vores miljø. Jeg har sådan en idyllisk tro på, at enhver time vi bruger på at koncentrere os om planter fremfor ipads, er en investering i en fremtid, hvor naturen igen fylder meget mere i vores bevidsthed - hvor vi igen er knyttet til den og forstår, at uden den, ingen os. Vi er en generation, der slet ikke har fattet pointen. Vi tror vi kan vælge, hvorvidt vi har lyst til at bekymre os om klima og miljø. Vi tror vi kan vælge at bruge vores tid på noget vi mener er vigtigere end at forstå, hvad det er vi har gang i. At det er en form for hobby man går op i eller ikke gør. Vi har glemt, at naturen er vores livsgrundlag, og at INTET er vigtigere for os end at forstå PRÆCIS, hvad det er vi har gang i - at ødelægge alt det vi har bygget op. Som jeg ser det har vi voksne en kæmpe opgave i at forstå samspillet mellem natur og menneske. Vi er nødt til frivilligt at uddanne os selv, så vi kan give det videre til vores børn. Vores generation kommer halvt så meget i naturen som vores bedsteforældre gjorde, og jeg tror, at præcis den afskæring fra vores omgivelser, blandt andet som konsekvens af den teknologiske udvikling, gør at vi virkelig tror, at vi kan fortsætte som vi har gjort hidtil blot med små justeringer, og ikke forstår, at vi er ved at skyde verdens største pil i egen fod.
