Purple perfection Two more summer sunrises under the belt. What a way to (probably) finish off the summer sunrise season! I announced to the family on Monday evening that we were going away this weekend to just south of Bath. They took that well There were no fiery skies, but plenty of beautiful light! here they are, my local cygnets nestled against their mother. they live on a little patch of water right in the middle of a housing estate. they built their nest on somebody's front garden this year. everybody in the community knows them, and whilst i photograph them, scores of people stop to spend some time with them too. young people, old people, every single one of the builders working on the pipes up the road. they cut through the real world like only animals can, and they will never know how thankful i am

Red dawn rising Ok. So the poppies are appearing en masse now! This field in the reds and golds of the pre-dawn sky was just incredible!! I have to confess, after going to bed at 11.30, when my alarm went off just before 4am, I wasn’t sure about going. The sky outside was clear and cloud free so I just was t up for it. Then I thought ‘*%** it’ and off I went. Glad I did now!! It was amazing!!
