Three shots from around the Inle Lake in Myanmar. First off, taking the boat for a day and exploring the floating villages and towns in the area was our favourite thing to do here. The boat was provided by the hotel we stayed in: the Sofitel Inle Lake Myat Min. Don't miss our new review of the place — tap the link in our bio to check it out: @TravelPlusStyle
By the way, see the fisherman in the first pic? He is propelling the boat using his leg and a special paddle. It's the traditional way here. Swipe right for a pic from the Shwe Yan Pyay Monastery: we visited it on our way to the resort.

There is only one way to get to the remnants of the ancient city of Inwa (or Ava!) near Mandalay, in Myanmar.
For us, like for most tourists, firstly it took a bit of a drive from Mandalay. It was convenient actually, as we decided to drive (rather than fly) from Mandalay to Bagan. So, on the outskirts of Mandalay, we arrived at a spot where we had to take a boat to cross the Irrawaddy River. On the other side, we then jumped on a two-wheel horse carriage (there were dozens of them waiting). It took us on a tour of a few ancient ruins, finally arriving at the Maha Aungmye Bonzan Monastery, where we took this photo.
It's a fun way to see the sights and explore the countryside here. And the monastery was fascinating to see.

Do you have a favorite unusual historical building or structure? The U-Bein Bridge in Myanmar, where we took this pic, might just be one of ours! The bridge was built around 1850 as a crossing spanning the Taungthaman Lake, located not far from Mandalay. At the time it was the longest teakwood bridge in the world, and today it is one of the oldest.
In Mandalay, we stayed at the Mercure Mandalay Hill Resort. Tap the link in our bio for our review: @TravelPlusStyle

New series! Over the next days (weeks?) we will be posting from our trip to Myanmar (or Burma?). We travelled across the country, starting in Mandalay — and the first place we visited here was the Kuthodaw Pagoda (pictured). Each one of these structures contains a stone chiseled with writing, which looks like a spread from a book. Because of this, the place is sometimes called "the world's largest book". Have you been to Myanmar? Are you planning to? Let us know in the comments!

At the time it was the longest teakwood bridge in the world, and today it is one of the oldest. And it's a very cool place to visit! We visited it twice, at sunrise and at sunset — and although most people would say sunset is the best time to be here, it really does get very busy here at that time. The place is much quieter at sunrise.
