The early bird catches the worm. In this case, fish. It's amazing to see these fishing techniques, handed down thru generations. It's amazing to see a part of a culture in front of your own eyes that has been passed by thru people in hundreds or thousands of years. Whether your seeing sunrises over pagodas, fishermen using one leg for paddling, and people adding tree barks essences on their faces (the famous Thanaka), it's always incredible to have the chance to glimpse other people's culture. Bagan (Burma) is an archaeological site perhaps less known than the Angkor complex in Cambodia, but it is very similar to it, and historically and archaeologically more interesting. Bagan Archaeological Zone is the formal name used to designate the historical region of the ancient Kingdom of Bagan. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ It is thought that probably more than 13,000 temples, pagodas and other religious structures were built here. What is your favorite time of the day for photography? We shot this one at the Hsinbyume Pagoda in Mingun, near Mandalay (Burma). Do you have a favourite place where want to wake up before sunrise? Bagan, in Myanmar was one of those rare places where getting up way before sunrise was more than fun! We'd hop on an electric bike and ride in darkness on dusty roads to one of the very few pagodas accessible to tourists (and way before others got there, so we claimed the best spot…) Some of the pagodas best suited for sunrise pictures are well-hidden and off the main roads, so we had to do a lot of research beforehand and even scout locations in daylight. A una presentazione del mio libro #lecoordinatedellafelicità una signora mi ha chiesto un consiglio per suo figlio. Mi ha detto che ha 18 anni ma è già preoccupato per il suo futuro. Teme di non riuscire a trovare la sua strada, il suo scopo, il suo posto nel mondo. "Ho solo un consiglio", le ho detto. "Anzi, ne ho due: leggere e viaggiare. Più che può”. Leggere e viaggiare sono la stessa cosa: sono pura scoperta. E sai perché i giovani dovrebbero leggere e viaggiare? Perché i giovani sono naturalmente curiosi e incuriositi da ciò che non conoscono. Amano scoprire cose nuove e sono attratti dal diverso. Vogliono vedere, muoversi, mettersi alla prova, capire. Non sono ancora condizionati dai pregiudizi e hanno un'anima esploratrice che vibra più che mai. I giovani dovrebbero leggere per imparare a ragionare come persone libere e indipendenti. E dovrebbero viaggiare per soddisfare il loro desiderio di scoperta. Non solo del mondo, ma anche delle persone, delle culture differenti e di loro stessi. Un giovane che reprime la sua curiosità, diventerà un adulto insoddisfatto.
