The common form of deleterious language that we find in our Yoga communities is Toxic Positivity ⠀ I used to work for a studio that encouraged us to only ever say things positively: don’t say don’t, no, can’t, etc. This is not inherently bad, remember from the Nocephobic post that we don’t want to instill negative thoughts but at the same time we don’t want to be inauthentically positive or deny reality Nos, Donts, & Cants can all be effective communicators when used intelligently and mindfully (rather than all the time) It often takes form in over encouragement: -“You did such a good job” (and not provide something specific) -“Never give up you’ll get it next time!” (And not offer any advice/feedback for their next time) -“Surrender to vulnerability and see the good in everything” (what this really says: you should deny your reality & feelings and stop being so depressing!) ⠀ That inauthentic positivity is SO -ey right? (Hence why I invented the 3rd eye roll meditation - where you attempt to roll your third eye back rather than your actual eyes when a teacher says some overjoyous foo foo fluffy crap) ⠀ It’s okay to be a little negative or display other emotions folks. As a yoga teacher you don’t have to smile and be all ,, & s ⠀ Be real, Be humble, & #BeHuman ⠀ People really vibe with that These are the best teachers. The ones that show and promote humanity rather than be a positivity that tries to pour happiness kool-aid down your throat every class ⠀ Toxic positivity is an escape from one’s real problems. It’s a form of Spiritual Bypassing where too much belief in positive vibes moves one into a world away from reality (or ignores other folks and their journeys with reality with comments like - “just smile!”) ⠀ Read some of the examples I provided by the smart folks I quoted @colinyogin & @sitwithwhit. ⠀ The space between negative (nociphobic) and toxic positivity is authentic reality. I choose to teach from there, I hope you do too ⠀ Have you experienced toxic positivity? Что такое бытовая НЕхимия? Это средства для стирки и уборки дома,которые не содержат в составе критичных компонентов и имеют этому подтверждение в виде сертификата..
