#ad Hey friends what do you think of my window sill garden? One of my favorite hobbies is to garden and DIY projects. I've combined both of these in one with the help of @westlakeacehardware in Overland Park, KS. I've always wanted an inside garden in my window seal and with the help and suggestions from the employee at Westlake Ace Hardware I accomplished it. They were so helpful in finding the right wood, soil, seeds, and @benjaminmoore paint to make the most incredible planters box. The paint color was scenic view #323Q and the accent color was Rootstock #305Q. I chose to have lettuce and wow it's so convenient and fun just grabbing a healthy lunch from your indoor garden. Acts of Service is my love language. . . And boy, did my husband fill my love cup in preparation for a project I’m working on. Knowing we were having photos taken at our house this week, he spent numerous hours making sure the entire exterior was in tip-top shape. Seeing him work so hard out of love made me choke up a little in gratitude. ❤️ . . It’s also how he somehow managed to get 35,000 steps on his Fitbit that day, while I also worked my tail off and got only half of that. Something is NOT right about that and I have made it my life’s mission to either figure out where the flaw is, or beat him at his own game. Ha! I’ve saved my attempts at beating his steps in my highlights, and clearly I had WAY too much fun with it. . . And also, see that tree sprouting up in front of that window?! We didn’t plant that baby and it just started growing on its own! I’m absolutely obsessed with it and cannot wait to see what it end up looking like! . . We spent the weekend doing impromptu yard work; the kind where one idea leads to another, and before we knew it we ripped out every thorny bush on our property and found ourselves doing things we’ve never done before like splitting Hostas (before today I didn’t even know what a single plant was named) and we bought our first ever grown-up landscape plants; peonies! We’ve never done any landscaping before so this has been fun for us to finally make this yard feel more like “us.” We will finish it up tomorrow by putting sod where those rose bushes once were so we can continue to creep on our neighbors without anything blocking our view. Kidding. Sort-of. . . We wrapped up the day slow-dancing in the kitchen to Sam Cooke’s “Bring it on Home to Me” and it just felt so nice. ❤️ . . I hope you all had a wonderful weekend! Update on all the fauxs! . . We’ve had some really windy days in the past couple weeks, and these babies haven’t budged. It’s also rained a handful of times, and they still look the same! We don’t get a ton of direct sun on the window boxes and porch, but I will keep you posted on how they do! . . And also, I took this photo right after the photographer left last week. All he wanted was for Bruce to lay still to get him in a couple shots, but of course, Bruce was just interested in sniffing butts and walking in front of every shot. . . And also also, it’s almost best I didn’t have more time to prepare for this shoot, or I’m sure my neighbors would have seen me with a stump grinder like a madwoman trying to get those old roots up of those nasty bushes we took out. . . . Im showing a peak of our new front door with my coffee from my couch this morning and I just can’t stop staring We saved up and ordered this beauty back in the fall, and after several mix ups with it, and then staring at it propped up in our hallway for a few months waiting to get it hung -it is finally up! Our old door was warped and cracked - pretty bad. It really did a number on our curb appeal. Our house is small and close to the road and the ugly front door was always the first thing I saw. Isn’t it crazy how we can pick out the flaw in something we have and zero in on it instead of focusing on everything else? I’m really loving all the light it let’s in, and the way it opens up our front hallway -the wait was so worth it- I’m in love! (Swipe for a view from the front hall.) . . ⠀ I came upon this color while trying to find something that would complement the blue/green undertones in the kitchen and Benjamin Moore’s Mediterranean Teal was the perfect color . I love how it adds just a little drama to this farmhouse inspired design.
