Here I am on stage at @Momocon during the cosplay contest courtesy of @swrightmedia I cannot begin to express how grateful I am to have won my first Masters as that is a big deal for me, I have to say no matter what due to my personality I will never feel deserving of any awards or compliments but I compete to try to progress myself as an artist and a person who is afraid of crowds and being the focus. It’s daunting, it’s terrifying and with little confidence I choose to compete because what I do have confidence in is my art and my passions. I guess what I’m trying to say is if you’re proud of something accept it wholeheartedly and don’t be afraid to put effort into it. . As for what’s next, well I’m planning on pursuing art full time.. somehow. I’ve been told countless times I need to but anyone whos tried or considered it know it’s difficult. I’m going to spend time planning and practicing, so people will be able to buy my full scale props. Maybe I’ll consider a Patreon as I’ve been suggested to but I’m not sure... So this weekend has meant a lot to me because I finally achieved a big milestone in my cosplay career, I finally won Masters for my armor work. I never thought after a starting a few years ago I would have made it this far and gained so much support. I’m very proud to present the fully completed Dragonslayer! This was such a joy to create, it’s made out of XPS foam and sealed with @smoothon Epsilon Pro for durability. This is a very big sword and it was fun to paint! I used various drying brushing inspired painting techniques to give it a realistic, worn and bloody finish. I’m hoping that this is what Guts sword would look like in real life! The berserker armor is only day away from being completed! You wanted the LEDs... and so did I!!! Coming up with how they to fit them took more time then executing this flash idea that popped into my head while watching Infinity war. I’m not quite sure how the led headband idea came about from that but as soon as I thought of it I knew that was what I needed to do, I took a piece of thin metal and blended it, glued it to a piece of foam, then attached elastic to the back, I then made the holster for the battery pack, glued the leds to the headband and that was it... so much time worrying about how it would be done and that was my solution it looks dumb but rest assured it is completely covered! Now that it’s taken care of, I’m going to finish the fucking armor!!! This is how I’ve been giving the berserker armor it’s texture! I grinded down a stone bit so that I could get a sharp edge and I my method is to use a controlled randomness to my etching with the rotary tool and following the flow of the edges.
