Finally continued with my attempt to watch all seasons of Star Trek TNG and my love for the crew is still going strong. In particular for a certain red-headed CMO that was grossly underused and deserved so much better. Nonetheless, I somehow feel very connected to her and cosplaying her is always great fun. They are our issues too. We are usually a big part of the problem. Let's face it, patriarchy is ingrained in our society and it affects us all, sometimes very badly. I'm being polite. Anyways, back to the love and light. This panel at #OttawaComiccon was really informative and engaging. It's great to have a safe space to discuss issues like representation and diversity beyond just gender and race, like sexual orientation, different physical exceptions, different body types, learning exceptions (Spock has dyslexia and it helps him!) they also discussed how women in power are represented, and how women on screen can be sexual without being sexualized etc.. Thx for all the good vibes that you shared. You covered way more than I could mention here. We all benefit from an inclusive and pluralistic world. Let's create one. Compassionately. Trying to bring a little structure to this account, let's see how this will go. So, this is part two of what I dub "badass red-haired space ladies". Got to wear Beverly again for #connichi, accompanied once more by my favorite Tasha Yar, the great @fotografiria . This costume was on my cosplan list for the longest time, before I finally managed to get it done . Love wearing it! "To boldly go where no one has gone before." Star Trek TNG was the first science fiction show I was exposed to. I remember my parents watching it on TV when I was a little girl and that somehow left a lasting fascination with the genre. This is one of the reasons why the Trek universe means a lot to me. Beverly Crusher has been on my cosplay list for quite some time, but I never got around to actually work on it (partly due to my abysmal sewing skills). Until this year, when @fotografiria and I decided to do a partner cosplay. And look how great her Tasha turned out! . While I need to tweak my uniform before I wear it again (just some minor adjustments) and also should style the wig properly, I'm rather happy with my version of Beverly. The uniform was super comfortable and it was great fun to be part of Starfleet for one day .
