Soo... I wanted to use this chalk sign I have to make a lil @thewatercolourfactory sign for my new office. Long story short, I spent ages on this and don't even like it remotely art life. But anyway. Short story long: Rubbing the side of the chalk on the board at the start is calling prepping or seasoning the board. It is supposed to prevent chalk and markers from burning into the surface and ghosting but if you have seen my Stories you'll know it doesn't always work anyways Whiiiiiich is why we have Magic Erasers! They'll get your haunted letters off the board in no time You probs don't need to season a board every time you use it but I do anyway Plus I like prepping the board because I like adding shadows to my letters. I usually use a fine tipped eraser to erase the chalk dust, revealing the black board as the shadows, but I stuffed up a few letters so I used a black chalk () marker instead so I could not only get my shadow on but also cover up the mistakes. I was so happy when @kassa released their black marker, game changer! I also like having chalk dust on the board, particularly when using markers, so it actually looks like a chalkboard. I'm not a fan of perfectly clean, black boards with crisp white writing in marker on them ‍♀️ same reason I don't like 100% streamlined letters on the iPad. I like things to look hand drawn Shake and test your markers before use. I didn't lol. These haven't been used in a year and a few were a bit runny and splattered in a couple places but maybe they wouldn't have if I took my own advice Not in video: screeching of chalk during seasoning (oops, be gentle or you'll scratch marks into your board while trying to preserve the dang thing), splashing chalk marker ink all over the table and myself, drawing coloured lines on top of the letters then covering it up, drawing black lines on top of the letters then covering it up, me throwing mild tantrums at every step and telling my pets off for fighting with each other 800 times Hope these tips helped!
