As many of you know, I recently lost my eyes after abruptly going blind. I have made such a recovery and am truly the same happy go lucky dog I was before. . However, my mom has received many comments and questions about how “it’s so great of us that we didn’t get rid of him or put him down.” It hurts my momma’s heart to realize there are probably many blind dogs like me who end up at shelters, or worse put down, and given no hope. . My mom has been looking for ways to share my story to do good. We would like to support VOCAL - Voices of Change Animal League @vocalforpets , who is on a mission to solve the homeless pet problem in our community through prevention, education, adoption, and collaboration. . Steve has absolutely NOT always been easy — hell, it’s taken this long for us to truly trust one another! — the long nights, the messy clean-ups, the chewed shoes and chewed laundry baskets and chewed pool sticks, the difficult walks... the fact that I could only take certain classes or work certain shifts that fit into Steve’s daily schedule... I’ve changed my entire life for this dog. And without ANY doubt, I can say with confidence that it has absolutely ALWAYS been worth it. I also remember ALL of the lives that have been changed by Steve’s love of life, his perpetual and pure happiness.
