The executives, it seems, are not being very open about their plans. However, some LIGHT!!! Dolby showed off their upcoming film slate at CinemaCon, and on that list was New Mutants! According to recent reports, the reshoots for "The New Mutants" haven't happened yet. With the release date not that far away, it's unlikely they will. Rumours abound that it won't be released at all, or it'll go to streaming. BUT!!!! Nothing official has been announced regarding a change to the plan to release it theatrically in August. And one thing you should know about me is that I'm stubbornly optimistic. Disney's acquisition of Fox will be more or less finalised in a week, so we might hear something then. So, remember when I said not to take any rumour that New Mutants would be cancelled seriously, and wait for something official? Well we've heard something official. Disney have announced their slate, and New Mutants was on it, now scheduled for April 3rd 2020. The delay is a bit disappointing, but I'm also relieved. The rumours of it being cancelled or shifted to streaming can be put away. It is actually being released, and with this extra time, maybe the reshoots will get done.
