July wrap-up... . This stack represents the 6 books I read this month. When I first posted the books I was planning to read in July, I mentioned that I’d feel lucky to read 5 books this month, given that I had a writing deadline and vacation at the end of the month. I did end up reading 6 books, but only 3 from my original list (#moodreaderforlife ). Here’s my final list: . The Most Fun We Ever Had by Claire Lombardo The Unhoneymooners by Christina Lauren The Simple Wild by K.A. Tucker The Bookish Life of Nina Hill by Abbi Waxman The Penderwicks by Jeanne Birdsall Hot Dog Girl by Jennifer Dugan . Overall, I’m really happy with July’s picks! I had some incredible 5-star reads, discovered new authors, and participated in my first ever readathon. Most of all, I really enjoyed not feeling the pressure to read only from my predetermined stack, so I don’t think I’ll be making an August TBR list—I’ll focus instead on what I’m excited to read and see how the month plays out. . What’s your most anticipated read for August?

My favorite thrillers ✨ I feel like I read a lot of thrillers, but when I look at my shelf of read books there really aren’t that many. Odd, since thrillers are one of my favorite genres. Even if it’s not a particularly good thriller, it still manages to keep my attention. An amazing thriller may be hard to come by, but a good thriller isn’t - if you ask me! Lately, my favorites have been domestic and filled with personal, juicy drama. My favorites of this stack are The Need and The Silent Patient • Have you read any of these? I wanna know your thoughts! + I want to read more GREAT thrillers - please oh please send me your recs!

Happy Wednesday! . I’m about 100 pages in to The Gifted School and I’m completely hooked. My first impression is that in many ways, it reminds me of The Farm and how it discussed issues of surrogacy, control over women’s bodies, and the ways in which they intersect with race, class, and cultural background. . In The Gifted School, ideas surrounding exceptional intelligence and giftedness in childhood are treated similarly, embedded within the broader narratives of the four families raising their children in the pristine Crystal, Colorado. My book journal is necessary for this one... . This is definitely a timely and thought-provoking read so far; I’m very intrigued to see where it leads. Have you read it yet?

The Turn of the Key: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5. ⁣ ⁣ All I can say is WOW this book was so good and I absolutely loved it. This book is so unique to other mystery/thrillers in the sense that it is written in the form of letters where the narrator is writing letters to someone and that’s how the whole story is told. Both the format and writing of this book were done so well and I was fully immersed in the story from beginning to end. This book definitely gets all the stars because THAT PLOT TWIST THOUGH it’s so hard to shock me nowadays so this book gets major props for doing so!⁣ ⁣ I do want to say that you should not go into this book thinking you are going to be reading a fast-paced thriller because it is more of a slow-building and atmospheric mystery. Towards the end it does pick up the pace, but the first 3/4 of the book are more focused on the setting and building the story up. ⁣ ⁣ Overall, I would HIGHLY recommend this to all of you! I think this might be one of my new favorite mysteries ever, which is so exciting! Hopefully you guys got this one in your August Book of the Month box because it is fantastic! ⁣ ⁣ Have any of you read this one yet? If so, what are your thoughts?

Just a quick #throwbackthursday to when I was still in New York (ie. last Thursday). I can’t wait to get back there, but in the meantime, I’m taking advantage of all that there is to do and see in the Bay Area. • Oh and in other news, it’s officially my birthday month ()! I’m excited to celebrate. What are some of your favorite ways to spend your birthday?

•BOOK REVIEW• “But that was the way life worked. Good things and bad--every friendship and romance formed, every accident, every illness--resulted from the conspiracy of hundreds of little things, in and of themselves inconsequential.” ~Angie Kim, Miracle Creek . You know when you hear so many wonderful things about a book that you’re almost scared to read it? I honestly wasn’t even worried about being let down, I just wasn’t ready for the experience of reading it to be over. Well, y’all. I finally read the book that everyone has been talking about, and it was phenomenal!! (I mean, when @prose_and_palate and @jordys.book.club tell you to read something, you KNOW it’s going to be amazing. Hands down.) . But now I can finally say that I’ve joined the #miraclecreekarmy and am deeply in love with this powerful book. Miracle Creek is brilliantly written, well-executed, impactful, and utterly compelling. And also, it’s sad. My heart broke for so many in this story: from the Yoo family’s immigrant experience, to the powerful and complicated emotions of the mothers raising their special need kids. Every part of each of their stories was told in such a realistic and visceral way, you couldn’t help but feel their pain...even if just for a moment, and it changed me. This is a story that I will not soon forget. . I LOVED the courtroom aspect of this book, and the way that @angiekimask slowly revealed each part of the puzzle until it truth was revealed with a shocking finality. I was fully captivated by each narrative, and loved that no character was painted fully good or fully bad...they were real, they were flawed AND hopeful, they were human. I also found the concept that each big event is the result of a million little decisions along the way so fascinating. And in that way, each person’s culpability in the events of this story were made clear in such brilliant & gripping ways. . I loved this story. I was heartbroken and learned from this story. And I am so grateful for it. Also, the audio version is incredible as it includes a wonderful interview with Angie Kim at the end that you don’t want to miss! 5/5 ⭐️’s.

I’M 35! . Today’s my birthday! And I thought it might be a good opportunity to do a #meetthebookstagrammer post! So, here’s 35 things about me...just kidding! I’ll stick to 5. . •I love to travel! I have a major case of wanderlust that I often satisfy by going on day adventures with my boys. . •I love to read (that one seems obvious), and I often have to remind myself to live real life instead of just reading my books. . •I have an incredible husband and two amazing boys and I’m ridiculously obsessed with all of them. Like, it may be a problem how obsessed with them I am. . •I love to bake! Again, that seems obvious. But ever since I was little, baking (especially making pies) has been how I relax. . •My Mom (who I feel definitely deserves a shout out today), is my best friend in the world! She has passed on her love of baking, reading, New England, and antiques with me and I am so unbelievably grateful for her presence in my life. She is one of my favorite people in the world to spend time with, and I know that if I can be even half the woman she is, my kids will have a wonderful life. . So, that’s me! I also love coffee, chocolate, Boston/Cape Cod, seafood, the ocean, sleeping in, procrastinating, and kissing my boys’ sweet chubby cheeks. I also LOVE this amazing book community and I am so unbelievably grateful to be a part of it!☕️ . Do we have anything in common? I’d love to hear more about you!! . . . #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #bibliophile #bookblogger #bookphotography #bookworm #booklover #bookish #booksofinstagram #readersofinstagram #booksofig #readersofig #igreads #instabooks #pieladybooks #birthday #lakelouise #bookcommunity #unitedbookstagram #ilovebooks #booknerd #bookobsessed #bookaddict #thingsyousaveinafire #katherinecenter #bookofthemonth #bookstagramfeature #booksharks #booksinthewild

Successfully met my first mini-goal with The Goldfinch last night. It was a perfect summer night, and I sat out on our little balcony and tried out this new Hibiscus LaCroix flavor we found at Target. I am not totally convinced I love it, but it is interesting and similar to Passionfruit. Lime and Pamplemousse will always be my standby flavors Any other LaCroix fanatics out there?!
