A step by step for ya!... I remember I was putting off the "middle bit" and started on the easy stuff for this one. My first sunflower! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ It's only a baby painting, 6"x6" or 15cm x 15cm. So, I have been thinking for ages now of how I could capitalise on the fact that I live in a very touristy village in France. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ As a full-time artist, creating a steady income is always a goal. I know we don't talk about money and such !! gasp! but you know what?, it's a job just like any other and we should be able to chat about it, the ups, the downs, the tried and tested stuff that worked and the things that didn't. It would help us all soooo much as working full-time or part-time artists… lets face it, it’s hard!! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ But I digress.. so, the idea needed to be something that I could easily produce and would be light and easy to carry ..Prints! I was thinking about this Protea this morning after posting the first one I ever did the other day.. (go to my feed to have a look). I just love this painting so much. There is so much detail that it actually blows my mind when I see it again... soooo I thought I'd post some Wips, (that stands for Work In Progress FYI). I can't believe I painted it. Half the time I could honestly say I was just trying to find "my place" in the photo so I could continue painting, there are so many swirls it was hard to see what one it was I were focused on. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I haven't painted for two weeks! And I am feeling a little "antsy" and wanting to start something again. But what?! Which reminds me...inspiration is on the way! I just ordered off amazon the new book The Botanical Bible: Plants, Flowers, Art, ... by Sonya Patel Ellis @abotanicalworld I'm looking forward to having a flick through that this week. As of this post, I am officially back in France! Yay!. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I got some good painting done in Hong Kong. I started painting a project I had been mulling over for, well, years actually. It was a tiny idea in the back of my mind till some chance comment from someone a couple of months ago brought it to the forefront. Phase one is complete. Phase two is starting in France. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I am also considering buying another Rory McEuen "colours of reality" book for France. I think I need a copy in both HK and FR. Looking at his work is inspiring and depressing in equal measure!! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ But overall his work just makes me think, "what's my next painting... gotta be good!" and I can't wait to get to the easel try to paint something epic. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ..Now, wanting it to be great and it being great is different, but that's always the goal!!
