Ok I haven’t posted in a while and this is a long one. But in these words is one of my greatest life achievements! I have been working in secret these past 6 weeks- on something that was written in the stars and along my life path many years ago. Not only my most, challenging, humbling piece of work to date, but apart from the birth of my son, this is the greatest accomplishment of my life. Not just physically what it represents but it’s meaning too. In terms of tanning I have relatively little experience. I only started my Wild Hides Tannery about 18 months ago. In that time I’m sure those who follow me closely have seen my work diversity increase and sales grow to distribute all over the world. My ethos is simple. Care for your land, honour your animals, strengthen the cycle between the two. Teach others to do the same. Then recently, the discovery of finding like minded people who want to make real and lasting change in these tumultuous times lead me to the Longhouse of the Kanienkehaka. This was no accident, in life there is no such thing as a coincidence. My WHOLE life I have thought and lived internally with a native heart. Not because I wanted to be one, but because everything I felt in my mind and heart was being lived out within their original ways. Their connection with the land and love of our mother always resonated with me and it influenced everything I did, wrote, wore, listened to. I know my family struggled with this, never really understood where it came from in me and so I lived it out alone, in almost silence for many years.. Just recieved the Gorka 4 suit from @grizzlyman.uk It's rated down to -5oC weather, breathable, windproof and water-resistant. It's made from robust Poly/Cotton Ripstop fabric with a fleece lining.
