Ah yes, the FAIL cake... For those of you who have not seen the video, I encourage you to check back a few posts to see just how much fun I had with the smaller of the two cakes. I’d like to say the taller one didn’t give me any trouble, but I’d be lying. Fellow decorators, do you pick out every little detail that is wrong with your final cake because you know exactly what went wrong as you were making it? I sure do, but at the end of the day, it is just cake, no one is perfect and as long as the client is happy, (which he said he was ) that is all that matters. Gold drip, gold speckle, and soft blush ranunculus make for such a pretty little thing . And let me tell you, flicking that gold is pretty fun and therapeutic . . To make the gold, mix together EdibleArt gold paint with lots of metallic luster dust, and then stir that into a touch of clear vanilla extract if needed. Use a clean paintbrush to flick the gold onto the cold cake, and paint the drip on a cold/set ganache drip. To prep the ranunculus, clean and wrap the stems in floral tape before placing them on the cake. That’s it! So pretty, and so simple. Perfect for Mother’s Day! ☺️ . #bakingwithblondie
