WASHINGTON DC | The US Capitol is immediately recognisable when you walk through DC. It's home to the United States Congress and the seat of the legislative branch of the U.S. federal government. ⁣ ⁣ When built, it was at the geographical centre of DC's federal district and is where the street numbering and lettering system I wrote about in yesterday's post starts. ⁣ ⁣ The neoclassical building was opened in 1800, and expanded in the 1850s, 1950s ,and 1960s. ⁣ ⁣ It's a truly beautiful building with an exterior and interiors that are well worth seeing if you're in DC.
