Every cattle operation is unique. Every cattle operation has its ways of doing the necessary work to keep the operation going. Every cattle operation has one or two or so, let’s call them, “specials”! You know the animals that have make your heart sing a little. Well, the Circle L has a couple, I mean, a lot of “specials!” Meet Jingle Bob! We raised him and he has a great story behind him. His mom was the horse that I rode in our wedding. His mom taught Reata to ride at the age of 2. His mom was a “special” one. His dad was a blue roan stud that we bought out of Wyoming when we first got married. He was so gentle and easy going. One night he decided to jump a corral fence and breed Jingle Bobs mom. Well, what we didn’t know was that he tore some major organs when he jumped the fence. The vet said that he didn’t think that he breed the mare because of the extent of his injury. He died with all of us surrounding him. Well, this one Mother’s Day, about a year later, Jingle Bob was born!! He is special to us and he loves to be around his people. He is great help and as you can see, he can move cattle without a rider. ♥️Lovies♥️ || We moved the pairs closer to home tonight in preparation of working cows tomorrow. Normally, we vaccinate and deworm cows when we brand, vaccinate, and deworm calves, but this year it just worked better for everyone’s schedule to split up the work days. Ex.) This girl has got to get her hair did for the big T. Rex trip to DC next week! We will brand calves later this week and then sort pairs into breeding groups and move them out to their summer pastures before we leave. ✈️ Then after our big T. Rex celebrations, Dylan and I will stay in DC for an extra few days for the US Cattlemen’s Association legislative fly in!

As I sit here sipping my Sunday morning coffee, I can’t help but look back on the week and feel thankful. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Thankful for the hours we put in doing what we love next to the people we love. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Thankful for the break in the weather and sweet sunshine. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Thankful for the friends that call, text, send snail mail, and drop in because they were in the neighborhood (read within 2.5 hours of our house). ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Thankful for the kids that keep me on my toes, make me smile, and are just generally turning into some really awesome humans. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Thankful for all those who held a good thought and lifted my mama up in prayer this week as she underwent her first of two surgeries on her way to saying goodbye and good riddance to cancer. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Thankful for my mama for showing me how to be a great mom and for continuing to show me how to be one tough mother. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ And thankful for the good Lord above for making all these things possible. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Are there things that didn’t go right this week? Oh yes. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ It’s a crazy time of year and I could write a list of things that went wrong, didn’t go according to plan, or just straight-up didn’t go that’d be just as long or longer than this list. But I’ve found, it’s a whole lot harder to concern myself with all that negative nonsense when I’m focused on the good.
