So I made this blouse from 2 men’s shirts that I bought in the British Heart Foundation charity shop in Bath. This is my entry for this year’s #thebigstitch ... please swipe for the ‘before’ pic of the 2 shirts, and another ‘after’ one of the finished floofy sleeves in all their glory. If anyone’s interested what I did, here’s a quick version - I combined 4 sleeves from 2 shirts to make 2 new sleeves. I cut up the second shirt to make a new collar and bow and long cuffs. I narrowed the first shirt and sewed lots of buttonholes and buttons to the front and cuffs. I've been holiday packing today and I do spend quite a bit of time on it. I always try on everything beforehand and plan for each day/night. . . This is one of my favourite outfits for the upcoming trip. Sometimes I think having a capsule wardrobe and being minimalist can be mistaken for a minimalist aesthetic - and yes, some of my clothes are quite plain and simple. This bag has been out of action for a while. I bought it in a charity shop ages ago and loved its size and simplicity but at some point the strap broke. A few days ago I took it to the local cobbler and for £4.50 it was fixed - its life extended. I know this isn't big news but I don't usually have much time to do these things. . . I'm very privileged to have more spare time over the summer so I've made a conscious decision to use that privilege to support the local businesses on my highstreet and make better choices such as shopping with re-usable containers in my local grocers to avoid plastic packaging. I'm usually really busy and supermarkets and online shops are convenient choices. However, I figured that even making a small change for a month or so will be a contribution.
