K I N D Y M O V E S Today Mikey has his first session of an exciting research therapy program with @healthystridesfoundation We are very excited that Mikey has been selected to participate in this program which includes treadmill training, over ground (walker) training, and occupational therapy. Similar research has been conducted with older children and now the team are seeing what results they can achieve with a younger age group. Mikey really enjoyed his 2 hour session today and he did some beautiful stepping in his walker. Our main goal for the program is for Mikey to independently step in a walker and propel himself forward. Currently he doesn’t have the strength to propel but check out the reciprocal stepping he surprised me with today We are so grateful to @telethon7 As the main sponsor for this program and to @healthystridesfoundation for the opportunity. VAGINAL DISCHARGE IN NEWBORN GIRLS. Is it normal for baby girls to have discharge? New parents may be shocked to find a discharge (normally like blood or milky white colour) from their daughter during the first diaper change after birth. This discharge is very common and normal — and there's really nothing to be worried about. WHY DOES THIS OCCUR?. The vaginal discharge may be due to the mother's hormone levels during pregnancy. During pregnancy, there are high levels of hormones circulating in the body that cross the placenta and reach the baby. In newborn girls, these high levels of hormones can cause vaginal discharge (and discharge in baby boys, sometimes). These hormones from the mum could also cause a new baby to have breast buds (swollen tissues around the baby's breast); swollen vagina (the labia area) or swollen clitoris. These features gradually disappear after a few days. Discharges could last up to 4weeks; or 6weeks for some baby girls. Where it extends beyond this time, the new mum should consult with her paediatrician and midwife. This is to make certain that the long period of the baby's discharge is not as a result of infection or other causes. W I Z Z Y Mikey’s discovered how to turn and reverse in his Wizzybug rather than just go forwards. He will still drive directly into a wall/tree/parked car if we aren’t careful - he would no doubt find that hilarious! He spends the entire time jumping kerbs, reversing up and doing it again. And he always throws in a few doughnuts for good measure
