I came in as a #stray on 28-May-2018. #CIRDC . One would never think that a #big guy like Pogo could be #timid but he is ... at least, within our ACC. Pogo is a young man, well nourished and well dressed in his shimmering and perfect tan coat, sitting at his door and waiting #patiently for his turn to go out. He is a #strong dog who does well in a harness, does his business on the walk and #responds nicely to orders. He is quite #obedient, sits and lays down upon command and is very #happy to get a treat as a reward. I sense that I have to be gentle with himand he will carry out whatever I ask him to do ☺️(even a few times in a row). I really like Pogo. I met him few days ago and again yesterday. SAFER Summary:: Sienna came into the assessment room #loose and #wiggly, she was #friendly and #social towards the handlers but showed some behavior concerns during toy item-Toy:: 3. Dog takes toy away, keeps a #firm hold. Body is #stiff. Summary (1):: 1/22: Sienna #approached the gate to greet the novel male, froze, growled, then lunged while muzzle punching the fence-chattering her teeth. Due to this behavior, she was not introduced to the other dog. 1/30: Sienna begins participating in counter-condition sessions. Sienna was given treats when she looked at the other dog and did not show any signs of reaction. She maintained #soft body language as the helper dog was systematically moved closer to her. The shelter thinks I am about 1 years 1 weeks (#12months) old. I came in as a #stray on 11-Dec-2017. #CIRDC . I started to lose count of how many #accolades Daxx received as I walked him. “He’s my #favorite!” One staff member told me. “Love him!” Another shouted out. It’s no surprise then, that Daxx won me over immediately. He reminds me of a a big sheep dog that’s been sheared to a short coat, his jowls are so smushy and floppy and when he stands on his hind legs to give me a hug his big lug head reaches my shoulders. Found wandering the halls of a building alone, we don’t know much about Daxx’s past. However, throughout his stay at the care center, he’s proven to be a #mild-mannered, #sweet and #affectionate dog. He THRIVES on human ATTENTION, loves being pet, knows commands such as “sit and give paw”, and appears to be housetrained. He’s even been #used as a SOCIAL GREETER DOG in playgroup-showing a #soft, #wiggly body with other dogs and is #respectful of their space. When meeting the staff at the ACC for the first time he was #friendly and #outgoing . SAFER Summary:: During the handling assessment Goliath was #friendly and #playful. He readily allowed all handling, and showed NO CONCERNS in behavior . PLAYGROUP Summary (1):: Goliath is #sexually motivated. The shelter thought I was a #SENIOR about #8years 2 weeks old. 25-Feb-2018 - surrender reason stated as animal #BEHAVIOR - not good with kids. . AT RISK - #CIRDC - She will bark in her kennel, and at other dogs when out in the yard, but is easily re-focused. Nipped a child on the nose. I WAS #RESCUE ONLY!!! . We have LIMITED HISTORY on Royal so we cannot be certain of her behavior in a home environment. In the ACC, she displays a #medium to high level of energy. SHELTER OBSERVATIONS:: Royal will bark in her kennel but is #social with people and #easily leashed and taken out for walks. She #allows all handling from staff. When in the yard she will slowly explore and check in with handlers occasionally. When she sees another dog in a neighboring yard she will bark from a distance but is EASY to #refocus. She is able to be releashed and returned to her kennel without incident. Anxiety: Royal has shown some signs of potential #anxiety in ACC, #vocalizing (whining, barking). This behavior was not reported at intake, so we cannot be certain whether similar behavior will be seen in a future home environment. SAFER Summary:: Royal was slightly #tense during collaring and Sensitivity item, but #tolerated all handling without issue. During her Medical Exam she was #calm and #quiet . PLAYGROUP Summary (1):: Royal is muzzled for introduction to a helper dog. She is pre-occupied with the muzzle and initially ignores the play solicitation of the helper dog. With continued approach Royal becomes #tense and vocalizes slightly in #attempt to INCREASE DISTANCE . Notes — Owner reports Royal nipped child on the nose in the home, causing a small scrape.
