Usually, when Australians think of a holiday to Indonesia, the first destination that springs to mind is Bali. We love it but just a stone throw away from Singapore is the relatively unheard of, Bintan Island (not to be confused with the beer) in Indonesia. After much research, I was intrigued to learn of this beautiful destination, just 1 hour ferry across the Singapore Strait. . We flew into Singapore late last night and stayed just near the ferry terminal so that we could head over this morning and make the most of our first day on the island. I am delighted to have been invited by Club Med to experience, showcase and review the facilities of the resort for both adults and children, alike. Having been to nearly 50 countries, I’m so excited to experience a new destination. . When we arrived on Bintan island we were met by the Club med reps and transferred to the resort. You instantly feel like you are in a a quiet, secluded destination and we only saw two cars on our 15 minute journey! We were greeted with the staff, waving as we drove towards the resort. Harvey thought they were waving good bye haha. It is absolutely beautiful and I am going to practically take you on the holiday with us with real and honest posts and stories AND tips at the end of each post, so that you can see this unique but easily accessible destination. And feel free to save the posts over the next few days, as your next possible family get away. Please feel free to ask any questions too. . MY TIPS -Staying overnight in Singapore was a great decision. It isn’t cheap but we got a good night sleep after the 7.5 hour flight and woke up refreshed for a full day in Bintan. -you are leaving a country to go to Bintan so it’s 90 min check in at the ferry but there is not a lot to do there. -take snacks for the ferry ride and as much as I don’t like to use them, an iPad or activity as the kids need to stay seated. Get on the ferry first and get a seat near the exit so that you get off first. and first through customs rather than wait in line. .
