“Do you miss dancing?” . I get this question quite a bit! It always throws me a bit. Like many things, out of sight, out of mind, a little lid closed on a box that doesn’t have a reason to open anymore... then occasionally, out of the blue someone asks me to take a peek inside, a random casting! A little side project! and nervously I put my mat to one side, give myself some room and see if this worn out mama of 36 has got anything left! I never expect anything tbh, that is a gift I suppose, attachment of what I once expected myself to look like when moving is lost, the turns/jumps/holds I worked so hard to be able to do a mere dream!! All I can rely on is the way expressing through movement makes me feel, the swell of the music in my heart and the sensation of the air rushing over my skin as I take up space... this little vid is from a few months back when I had to self tape for a random ad casting. The baby napped, Elijah was occupying himself somewhere and I had 10 precious mins to clear some space, set the camera and improvise, no time to plan, no time to practice, no time to procrastinate or overthink, just 10 mins, music and me!.... it’s not gonna win me any awards, it didn’t win me the job ( they went with hip hop dancers which I definitely AM NOT ) but it reminded me of how dance, way back when , stole my heart ❣ . It’s chipmunked to fit as much into an insta minute as poss ( sorry to @sarabareilles full vid is on IGTV. moving for Enriched purpose or punishment? . January brings a powerful, universal energy of change and possibility, a fresh approach of enriching our lives? So why does it so often bring the January blues? Could it be the intention and roots behind the desired change . A common New year resolution I know I’ve used myself in the past is “Lose weight, get fit”.... and of course getting fit and healthy helps us enjoy this life to our full capacity. But what’s the reason behind it? So often when asking WHY the reply is . “I’m fat “I’m lazy” “I ate, drank too much” “I’m weak” “I’m stiff” . Said any of those phrases?... I have ... many times but the only purpose they serve is to cause shame, and this makes us either want to retreat or punish ourselves with harsh words, fad diets or merciless training schedules. . What if our ‘WHY’ came from the point of enriching purpose “By moving........” “I will enjoy my body” “I will feel freedom and ease” “I will find joy in movement” “I will laugh” “I will find wonderful connection with people” . Self-love should be part of the school curriculum. Learning how to do long division is all well and good, but finding a steady foundation of acceptance and love within ourselves and for ourselves is what will truly allow us to shine. ❤ . . Bossed food prep this week ! Well ok I may have had a little help from @sprout_uk ‍♀️ . ⠀ ~~⠀ They cooked and delivered the most delicious, nutritious food prep for my dinners this week, and i’v got say it made my life so much easier! ⠀ ~~⠀ If you work long hours, getting ready for an event or holiday and don’t have the time to prep your meals for the week ahead then I would really recommend them! I get in from teaching or shooting and I’m too tired to cook so reach for a quick fix which isn’t necessarily healthy! They deliver on a Sunday so you’re all prepped and prepared for the week.. no drama. ⠀ ~~⠀ With meals such as ⠀ lemon pepper chicken with pearl barley and black kale (my fave), sweet soy and ginger salmon with crushed new potatoes and ratatouille and loads more plus new vegetarian options, it’s so easy to keep your nutrition goals and all the hard work is done for you! ⠀ ~~ ⠀ Thanks so much to Glen @sprout_uk for feeding me great no fad, healthy and tasty meals this week! I’v got you on speed dial now ⠀ P.S I was not paid to post this, but I did eat all the meals with pleasure ‍♀️⠀ ⠀ ⠀
