Last night’s 24”x30” #liveeventpainting in progress of a #weddingceremony at @gargiulosrestaurant, a classic #brooklynweddingvenue in #coneyisland! I love it when I can express some #brooklynlove #nyclove and pay tribute to my hometown in a painting—but never thought I’d get to paint a #nycsubway or #pizzaparlor into a #weddingpainting! But this couple really embraced a Coney Island theme for their entire event and I loved all the amazing details they had (see my story for more!). Originally we’d planned for me to paint them on the boardwalk with some iconic #lunaparknyc rides behind them but when they decided it would be too crowded to paint there we decided on the ceremony with some of those elements snuck into the background along with the #subwaystation with trains going by during the whole ceremony (even though the boardwalk is really across the street from the #coneyislandstillwellavenue subway station as any true Brooklynite might know so you wouldn’t see them both in one view...shhhh...). It was almost too windy to paint outside but I was able to move to a covered outdoor patio off to the side and kind of “fudge” this straight-on point of view of #brideandgroom walking back down the aisle together after their vows. CONEY ISLAND Dia 6/4 os parques de Coney Island iniciaram sua temporada e como era meu querido aniversário decidi passar meu dia por lá, e hoje relato o que fazer na região! . Sei que demorei bastante para escrever esse post mas a época mais indicada para conhecer CI é no início do verão, motivo pelo qual estou escrevendo agora, na melhor época de visita-la. . A Coney Island é uma península banhada pelo Oceano Atlântico localizada na parte sul do Brooklyn; a cerca de uma hora de distância de Midtown-Manhattan. . O que fazer em Coney Island: • Luna Park: inaugurado em 1903 sua principal atração é o Cyclone, uma montanha russa de madeira que atinge 96km/h e foi construída em 1927 ($10); • Demi's Wonder Wheel: roda gigante também construída na década de 20. É o melhor lugar para apreciar Coney Island, e seu carrinhos ficam se movimentando durante a volta. • O parque: há muitas barracas de prêmios, aquelas em que atiramos em garrafas por ex e ganhamos ursinhos. Também há carrossel e outros brinquedos para crianças. • Nathan's Famous: reza a lenda que o primeiro hot dog foi feito aqui! A lanchonete fica no calçadão de frente para o mar. • Ruby's: o bar mais antigo de CI, desde 1934. Fica ao lado do Nathan's. • A praia e o calçadão: a praia é limpa e com uma grande extensão de areia. O calçadão é imenso e fica à beira do mar, perfeito para caminhar e curtir um sorvete. • NY Aquarium: o maior e único aquário de NY fica em CI! É o lar de cerca de 300 espécies marinhas, inclusive pinguins, leões marinhos e tubarões. .
