My Maelynn Kate. She made me feel love in ways I didn’t know existed. Crazy how a child changes everything. Before her my dogs were our babies... well have a kid and boy do you experience a love 3857929 times bigger (I still adore our pups btw!) and it changes your perspective on A LOT of things. I would say things like, before her we could do what we wanted, be spontaneous, sleep in, yadda yadda... BUT. We could still do those things after her bc well... she was basically a gem of a baby. Very content, easy, LOVED sleep, just... ya. We were like “Dude, we should write a book on parenting!” Lmao them Morgan came along and showed us we had nothing to do with how good she was God just gave us some undeserved grace with this one ANYWAYS! This girl! She’s so sweet, super shy, hasn’t let me pick out her clothes since she was 3, she’s witty and hilarious, a good argue-er when she’s passionate about something , and if you want her to do something she wants to do it that much less And unfortunately she’s starting to catch on to the reverse psychology game LOL! I’m just hoping that undeserved grace will follow us into the teen years hahaha! So where my girl moms at?! I’m already thinking I should be reading some teenager mom self-help books - - - I wanted to post a little about my babies bc I love them SO dang much, these photos are so special to me, and I’m gonna miss them like crazy while I’m in London! ❤️ • • •

Hey old & new friends! One thing I wish I had done more of during my younger years is travel. I was able to live in the Dominican Republic for almost a year, learn a new language, eat different food and become immersed in the culture. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I'll never forget waking up to the sounds of roosters crowing in my favorite village, San Jose. I slept on an air mattress on a cement floor with no blankets, and just the humidity to keep me warm. ☀️We ate rice and beans, empanadas, avocado and mango, and enjoyed the strongest Dominican coffee with lots of sugar. I fumbled over my Spanish and tried my best to understand what everyone was saying. Their dialect sounded like a song, fast and full of slang. We walked a lot from village to village, sometimes riding on the back of a motorcycle through busy streets, and sometimes standing on a bus full of sweaty people. I was stretched in ways I can't explain mentally as I tried to adapt to a life so different from my own. I faced fears like being sick in a third world country, huge tarantulas, and flying alone. I was emotionally challenged by being so far from my family, seeing the poorest of the poor, and working with orphans and girls caught in prostitution. It was difficult sometimes to do life alongside others as they struggled and learned too. But it was a beautiful, tropical, and incredibly humbling time. Dominican life was slower than life in the US, more intentional, and full of long, meaningful conversations with strangers. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I am forever glad that I was able to experience that! But I moved home, got married and had kids. I'll never regret any of that either, but I wish I had traveled more when I was younger. I am so hungry to see the world, try different foods, see how other people live, and open my eyes to this great big planet. Maybe someday in the future, I'll tackle international travel with my two munchkins and get to show them this great big world. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Where is your favorite place to travel with or without kids?
