What is fascia, where is it located, and why is it important to pelvic health?⁣ ⁣ Fascia is a band or sheet of connective tissue, kind of like a spider web.⁣ ⁣ Fascia is located throughout your body. It wraps around your muscles and internal organs. ⁣ ⁣ Fascia is important because it protects your muscles and internal organs. It works together with your pelvic floor muscles to keep your pelvic organs in the right place at the right time! ⁣ ⁣ Imagine a spider landing on top of a spider web. That web will “give” or stretch with the spiders weight but it will also rebound up to support the spider. ⁣ ⁣ The same concept applies to fascia! Fascia should be able to stretch but also support. ⁣ ⁣ When problems occur...⁣ Imagine what the human body goes through! Pregnancy, childbirth, surgery, and life all demand a lot from our pelvic floor muscles and fascia. ⁣ ⁣ If fascia is overstretched, we lose support. Incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse, and instability may occur. ⁣ ⁣ If fascia is restricted, we lose flexibility. Pacientes com palato raso também podem ser submetidos a técnica de Enxerto de Tecido Conjuntivo, desde que modifiquemos a forma de coleta no palato. Uma boa opção é remover o enxerto como um “Gengival Livre” (epitélio e conjuntivo) e promover a remoção do epitélio manualmente. é importante utilizar uma lâmina de bisturi nova para remover o epitélio com maior facilidade. esta remoção também poderia ser realizada desepitealizando inicialmente o palato com uma broca, e depois removendo o tecido conjuntivo com a lâmina de bisturi ( da mesma forma que se remove o Gengival Livre). a qualidade da fibromucosa conjuntiva removida desta maneira é excelente, geralmente com pouco tecido adiposo e tecido glandular, principalmente se for removida da região de 1o molar. Para um maior conforto do paciente, devemos confeccionar uma placa de cristal (0,3 mm) para a área doadora ou proteger a área com esponja de colágeno.
